I still have the original CD with expansion but I had technical problems to run it on newer Windows (flickering and mouse lag). Now it works nicely with GOG version and your procedure :-)
So if I have the DS:Legends of Arania CD's I can install them into the GoG installation with no issues? I know that doing that with Hellfire on Diablo worked.

Doubt it, even Steam doesn't have them anymore, which is the main reasons for Killah's guides even existing

Introduction

I would just like to state my reason for creating and maintaining this guide/mods/community over the years is purely out of love for this gem of a game.

Back in the day when the game first launched at Steam people that bought it received a copy of the game with Legends of Aranna (DS1)/Broken World (DS2), but curiously nowadays those who purchase do not.

I don't really know the exact reasons which led to this but it may range from a servers bug from Steam to licensing issues, even the LoA/BW executable is being used to launch the vanilla game, which doesn't make sense at all

But cry no more, fellow dungeoneer, I'm here to help.

Note: I merged the two very similar quotes, into one.

So this will still be the only way to get then, as what you describe, refers to when Steam has the DLC, and GOG doesn't include them at launch. If Steam, with it's much bigger clout had to remove Broken World, it's a legal issue, that likely can't be resolved.

No matter though, guide exists, and as the DLC content is from the original release, it works for both GOG, and Steam.

No, that won't work.
LoA isn't an add-on or expansion in the usual sense, as it comes with its on version of the complete base game, so you cannot use the LoA content in combination with the GOG base game.

You will likely be waiting forever, , they were removed from Steam years ago.

DS1 Expansion Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna was developed by Mad Doc Software, published by Microsoft Game Studios

DS2 Expansion Dungeon Siege II: Broken World was developed by Gas Powered Games, but published by 2K Games

Then Gas Powered Games sold the Dungeon Siege Franchise to Square Enix, and rights, which included the now lapsed Publishing Rights, of Microsoft Game Studios,

Dungeon Seige 3 was then published by Square Enix, and developed by Obsidian Entertainment
DS1, and DS2, were removed from Steam when MS right to publish them, had lapsed, but both base games were then republished on Steam, and now GOG by Square Enix.

However, Gas Powered Games, and thus Square Enix never owned the Rights to either expansion.
Gas Powered Games do not own rights to Legends of Aranna expansion, they did not develop it, Mad Doc Software did
Microsoft Game Studios did not hold the publishing rights to Broken World expansion they did not publish it. 2K Games did.

It's a mess of conflicting ownerdship, and publishing rights that means both Expansions are unlikely to be added to either site.
If anybody can wade through that mess, it will be GOG, but it may never get past the roadblocks.

Mod is well established, and known to be safe, use it, or don't, it's your loss, not ours.

You are such a lifesaver! I just bought this instantly before checking twice in order to replay the amazing Ultima remakes for DSI and was absolutely shattered when I realised they wouldn't run without the expansion. I can confirm it now works like a charm!

Same shit with NOLF but probably slightly less of a mess. Sucks that game rights arent taken care of as well as they should be.

Worked like a charm. Dont be as stupid as i was and forget the registry for DS2BW. Do it as it says in this thread. Its optional for DS1LOA but its mandatory for DS2BW.

Happy gaming everyone and i hope we can all buy the expansions in the future.

In the pastebin there is "Dungeon Siege Legendary Edition" this enables all the DS1 maps and all expansions plus the 2 bonus worlds working in DS2's engine

Edit: Brain fart here, hes the mod author of Dungeon Siege 2 Legendary Edition.. #FacePalm didn't put 2 and 2 together until just now

BIG time DS gamer and SpaceSiege too, also my job is in computer forensics and information security. Killah is a good guy, no viruses or anything else He's also one of the top mod makers for the series. You will never EVER see the expansions on GOG, or anywhere. This will be you're only chance. They are clean and safe, I promise for what its worth... I've been running the fixes on my Steam copies for years and finally ditch that for GOG's and they work a treat.

Plus it comes with the Legendary Edition companion mod for Killah which combines both games into 1 with every single campaign and level <3

Link to Legendary Edition mod that combines the 2 games together from NexusMods This one is a simple EXE i'll test it out over the megadrive link about and let you know how it works on GOGs edition.

Did anyone else have a problem launching the Dungeon Siege 2 after installing the Broken World mod? After installing the mod all I get is a black screen when trying to launch the game.

Did you install the Broken World registry files for your OS version?
Without them, it won't work.

If you skipped that skip - go do that step. You need it.

Oh, wow. Space Siege.

I still have that from retail. Was bored, installed it the other night.

I had to use Borderless Gaming app to get that running, as it wouldn't work in full-screen properly...as it had the mouse flickering bug. Also had to install NVidia PhysX Legacy drivers too.
