After not plauing it for a year, I decided to play DUngeon Siege 2 on my computer..which runs Window 7 64 bit.
I have had no problem before, but now after I click play ,the screen goes dark, then I hear the Windows sound mreaning a error has happened, but it does not CTD. I have to use the task manager to close the program, and the rrror message is gone without my having a chence to read it. I tried a reinstall, same thing happens. ANybody have this problem.

Windows 7 hasn't had an update in a long time, but check to see if there was an update. Maybe you can do a restore back before that update. Possible that's what caused it. I still have 1 update pending and I already disable my network card, since everything works fine. Plus, I use my Win10 SSD for all my online activities anyway.

Another thing you could try. After I uninstall a game, I run my Norton Utilities to clean up the folders and registry. Maybe you could try something like that. If I still have issues, I end up looking through the hidden folders under C:\Users\mypcname\Appdata (appdata is the hidden folder) and search for any leftover files from the game.

You'll have to figure out which folder the game used to store any files and some games used an odd string of numbers and chars. But most use the company name such as Inxile or THQnordic etc. In the Appdata folder there should be 3 folders (tow local something and roaming I think), so search all three.

Get rid of those files (if you're comfortable with that), this is after you uninstalled. You can also use regedit to see if there are any leftover registry entries for DS 2, again only if you feel confident in doing it. Then reboot your pc just in case and reinstalling the game.

I can try to get you the exact locations since I still have DS 2 installed on my Win7 pc, but I won't be able to reply back until tomorrow or Sunday.

I treid downloading with GOG Galaxy instead of instealling from my back up instiall program, and it worked perfectly.

That's good to hear. Enjoy the game. :)

Also, don't forget to check out some of the mods out there (sites like seigetheday org or moddb etc.) and if you don't want to use cloud saves, make sure to disable that in Galaxy settings, in case you like playing offline.
