I get a DKII-dx.exe has stopped working message box and the program freezes as soon as it trys to run.

"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".

I then hit the close program button.

I am running windows 7 64 bit home, ATI 5850 vid card, i7 cpu, 6 gigs of ram.

What graphics card are you using? (Can I hazard a guess that you don't have one, and are using something integrated?)

Edit: Bah, you ninja edited. :p
ok, what are the crash details? The faulting address, and any other details it gives you.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately the actual message box does not go beyond the info I reported....there is no button to click for details. ...only to close the program. Im checking ATI to see if tgheres an updatwe to their drivers but Im pretty good about staying up to date.

yay, for dumbed down windows. It doesn't make finding that sort of info easy these days. :/

Open the start menu, type event viewer, click windows logs, application, then look for an error that matched the time of your crash. Click it, them pm the contents of the general box, particularly the exception code and fault offset lines.
It looks like it runs with the dumbed down settings..low rersolution , no 3d etc which I believe is what the new patch was designed to allow (higher settings).
I am having a similar issue - when I load DK2 I get a black screen, and then some sound after a bit. Hitting Alt+Tab shows me a glimpse of a frame, and then the desktop. I've tried waiting for a few minutes before alt+tabbing, but nothing.
This was a fresh install - new computer, and downloaded DK2 + patch as soon as I saw the news.

I'm runing Windows 7 HP, i7cpu, GT540M 1gig Graphics card (laptop, nividia optimus thing, set to always use the real card), 6gig ram.
Anyone with the same issue as FrenziedAU, hit win+r to open the run dialog, and type %APPDATA%\GOG\DungeonKeeper2\config.ini to open the patch configuration file. Add the line 'Antialias=0' to the bottom, and save it. (Despite the name, that disables the main menu fps fix, and not antialiasing. You can set it to 2 or 12 if you want to try antialiasing...)

Thanks to FrenziedAU for testing that for me.
I jsut put it into compatibility mode for windows xp service pack 3 and running as administrator...seems to have fixed the problem for me of it crashing on trying to start.
Yeah, I'm encountering the same issue. Win 7 64bit, AMD 5770..

Which same issue? There's been two in the this thread. Did the same fix work for you?

The issue in the OP, and his fix hasn't worked for me.
have you guys made this program run on only one core or done anything else to the game? that might effect whether it works or not.
