Hello,

We were playing DK2 multiplayer and (after switching to 800x600) ran just great with no crashes or stability problems for quite some time. After about 45 minutes, however, the game suddenly stopped, went to the loading screen for both players, and continued from where the game had been a few moments before. It then kept doing this, over and over picking slightly different spots to load (either earlier or later), until we gave up.

Any ideas or similar experiences? We were using TCP/IP (next idea is to try IPX instead as we're on a LAN), one computer was XP and the other was Win7.

Thanks!

Had a similar issue earlier. I have 3 PC at home and I wanted to test the multiplayer's stability. One my my PCs wouldn't see games created on other PCs, but the other PCs would see games created on that PC just fine.

So I decided to host the game on the PC that couldn't see other games, and it worked fine for a while. Then suddenly it went to the loading screen on that PC, and the other PCs showed a message that read something like "Host is not responding". Eventually the game continued on the host PC, but the 2 client PCs went to the debriefing screen.

Now I've updated the host PC's wireless network card drivers, reset the firewall rules concerning DK2 and it can see games created by other PC and I've been able to play a game to completion.

Ok so that was long-winded with lots of useless details but basically it could be that one or more of your PCs are having connection problems. It might not be directly related to DK2.

I realize this is years later but have the same issue and the response here is no help.
This happens every time we play a multiplayer game on a lan connection.
We have tried pretty much every idea suggested on the web including every combination of compatibility settings.
We have tried turning off all firewall settings.
Its frustrating as this game is great but has had issues since after windows 98. The game keeps getting re-released for a new operating system but no one fixes the crashing and looping issue.
We have played this on at least 20 different computers and all the operating systems over the years and always had the same issues. A search on the internet shows that we are not alone in this frustration but the company re-releasing the game is either unable to fix the issue or unwilling and is just looking to make a fast buck on a classic that everyone is desperate to have working properly. I personally have lost count of the amount of times I have purchased this game in hopes that this time it will work only to be disappointed again.
