I've contacted the GOG support team and am waiting for a reply back.

I did go ahead and purchase DK2 and I'm glad to say that I haven't encountered the screen drifting issue with mouse stuck to the left side. It runs quite well, the only negative so far was the game crash I got when using the hotkey to restart the current level (Ctrl+R). Though I haven't tried the hotkey again, I'm pretty certain it would crash the game again.

Here's the Event Viewer Application Error Log
Faulting application DKII-DX.exe, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000, faulting module DKII-DX.exe, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000bab47, process id 0x1a1c, application start time 0x01cf2c9a757fdc99.
This is what I sent to GOG.com support on Feb. 17th 2014, they got back to me today, Feb. 20th 2014.

The game screen drifts to the left & mouse input very limited

Hi, I just got this game on Feb. 15th, 2014 so the game is using the latest installer (v2.0.0.4) with the latest version of DOSBox as well (v0.74). Thank you for offering up the game for free, you guys rock!.

When playing the game everything is working fine then all of a sudden, out of the blue, the screen starts drifting to the left and the mouse cursor is stuck on the left side of the screen. The mouse can be moved along the y axis (up and down) but not the x axis (left and right). The only way to exit the game is by hitting alt+enter, to exit out of fullscreen mode and go into windowed mode. That allows you to close DOSBox with the X in the top right corner of the window.

I would love to see this issue corrected and I'm sure others would as well. It breaks the game because it happens on a regular basis, and there's no work around for it.

There is a topic on this subject (several actually) within the Dungeon Keeper community forum (but I'm sure your completely aware of this and are working on it).

GOG.com Support got back to me via e-mail and this is what they said.

Hello

This is a rare issue and there is little that can be done. Please try using KeeperFX:

Same issue here. Playing along happily then the mouse glues itself to one edge of the screen.
*edit* my old fix didn't work for me anymore :( try below

KeeperFX does work very well. There is a stickied thread about it here:
http://www.gog.com/forum/dungeon_keeper_series/keeperfx_hires_dk1_latest_builds_and_install_instructions

Plus you get a native Windows program rather than running it via DOSBox, so that should also solve lag issues if your computer isn't up to running the DOSBox emulation well enough. The downside is that KeeperFX doesn't (yet, anyway) play the OGG CD music tracks, so you have to play them in a media player or burn them to a CD (or mount a CD image cuesheet for them) if you want the music.

If you purchased the game then you could also try to take advantage of the 30 day money back guarantee, but this is pointless if you got the game free on the Valentine's Day special.

From what I recall, this is actually a (fairly common) bug with DOSBox (or perhaps it was also present on DOS itself) and therefore there isn't much that GOG can do about it.

As others have suggested, you may find more help on the DOSBox forums, or try KeeperFX (which is worth a try even if you don't have the bug)

I remember it being particularly annoying when trying to play Stonekeep, too.
