Yay can't wait!

I always loved playing dungeon keeper.

Being able to play the second without any problems would be a dream come true!
Glad to see GOG is still working away on this great game to make it work on modern systems.
Wow, I cant even play DK 2 on vista without constant crashes.

Good one GOG. Real nice of you to release this game in such an abysmal state and leave it broken for months.

Yeah... I've always loved GOG, but this one makes me wonder if they test their releases at all and if they lost some of the spirit they used to have. Also, no updates at all except when you inquire via support is not an excellent way to handle this...
I also mentioned to support that I find it troubling that the product page is still saying it is compatible with Vista and Windows 7 and that there is no word about compatibility issues except for the unrelated

.

Edit:
Is it really only coincidence that this starts to happen only with EA titles? It's like EA these days is synonym for "a lot of trouble and bugs". Even with their old games, it seems.

I just want to say thanks to everybody for posting about the issues here. Saved me some money.
Let me forward you to this thread:

This actually solved all my problems.

If this really helps others, we should get the word out. :)
I think that I've found a solution people.

Works for me (for now).
I ended up buying the game at half off knowing issues still exist. I hope GOG updates the status soon (perhaps as an early Xmas present?)...
The game seems to be running for me on Win7 64 bit.

I noticed the game will crash when I press on the Objectives button after some game time. =/

Seriously, EA needs to get their heads out of their ass and start actually caring about the people that made them a real company in the first place...

Ever since C&C 4, I cannot forgive them for anything and I will always consider them a bad developer/publisher until they get it right, which will never happen.
The perfect fix would be to have access to DK2 source code but unfortunately EA hasn't done that for any of their games.
Was a bit frightened to buy dk2(have the original game as well, but crashes all the time), but i'm very happy, played through the 1st 6 levels without any problems/glitches/ or crashes.

A happy DK2 player, can finally put an old xp pc to rest, which i used to play dk2....
Count me among those of you waiting for real fixes before buying.
Tried to play a game of Dungeon Keeper 2 last night (Windows Vista x64 // AMD 5870 HD). I got the BSOD. One of only 5 I've ever gotten on this set-up (most of the others were due to over-clocking failures)

That is signal enough for me that this game should not be listed as compatible with Vista/7. How hard would it for EA or GOG (if they have the source code) to assign one engine programmer to fix some of the archaic code.

Heck, there is a modder who fixed up and improved DK1 (KeeperFX) without having access to the source at all!
The game crashes in mission 3 after some time in no special context - the error is not reproducable by doing something special, it just happens every single time I try to finish this damn mission. :(
