quad core 2 2.6 Ghz with a gtx 560 ti
I have the same issue, Tried everything, changed resolution, tried safe mode, disabled second monitor, updated drivers, changed windows resolution . I have 2 Win 8 PC's and it's doing the same exact thing. Menu is fine, game is at 1 fps if that. I e-mailed support and got nowhere. Not a happy camper.
wel i me self is runing a quard core 3.0 and GTX 560 Ti alos and i am having no problems at all with it so i cant realy say what ure problem is Falcon554

psuJC i havent tryed teh game on a win 8 pc yes so cant realy help u eiter :/
Got the same problem, 640x480 resolution does make game playable, but the pixelation is pretty bad.
I've got the same problem:
The menu is great, but once in the level the framerate drops to unacceptable and unplayable levels.

Running on an i-7 M620 on x64 Windows 8
same here with 2500K, 680GTX, Win8. doesnt work on stock

BUT: here is a solution:
go to: C:\GOG Games\Dungeon Keeper 2
right click DKII.exe (NOT DKII-DX.exe) and select compatible mode win xp (sp3)
then edit the resolution: start regedit
go to: hkey_current_user>Software->Bullfrog Productions Ltd->Dungeon Keeper II->Configuration->Video
Edit "Screen Height" and "Screen Width" with your values of choice in decimal mode.

Play by launching DKII.exe

Note 16:9 resolutions work but lead to a stretched menu ingame etc... i would recommend to stick to a 4:3 resolution :)
