We're happy to announce that this bug is now fixed.
Please download
FIX
and copy the included .dll file to Duke Nukem Manhattan Project's \duke\sys\ subfolder (you should replace the old .dll file located there).
The default folder path should look like this:
" C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Duke Nukem - Manhattan Project\duke\sys\duke_base.dll "
You should just replace old "duke_base.dll " for a new one .
Enjoy the game :)

Thank you!
I really didn't believe you would be able to fix this. I have never been happier to be proven wrong. I won't get a chance to test this until the weekend but thanks again.
Damn, I just remembered that this weekend I was planning on starting another Witcher playthrough since the Director's Cut patch is coming out tomorrow for the NA Enhanced Edition. I think I got way too many games to play . :-)

Although I don't get this error with my copy, I'm still downloading and archiving this patch in case I have problems on another system. Thanks!

Was just looking through the forums and I saw your post. You shouldn't need to archive the patch as GOG replaced the installer with a new one that already includes the patch as part of the installation. See page 3 of the below forum thread:

Just curious, but what was the fix?

a new version of the file:
duke_base.dll
Very nice work, GoG team. Definitely going back to playing this one now.

I should have been more specific:

The title says it all!
Also, this item is on the support page:
"Prism3D.exe crash after dying (usually during boss fights) "
It was the crash that a lot of us had when we died trying to fight the boss on the first level.
And there is another thread here:

Hi Resil,
I've just played through Manhattan Project after downloading it yesterday. I don't think your fix is complete, however, as I had one (but only one) Prism3D crash.
I was on the final boss fight and got to the second part of it but only had 7 health left. Unsurprisingly I then kept dying. After a fair few deaths it then crashed on me with the Prism3D error.
On replaying the boss (luckily I had a save just before it) I then did much better and beat him.
But yes, I had one Prism3D crash and it was after a death during a boss fight.
I don't really want to raise a support ticket for it, though, as it was only one crash and I have since finished the game anyway, but I thought it was worth mentioning here.
Hi korell
Could you send to our support save file prior this error? I'd like to investigate it and fix if possible.

I'm afraid I no longer have the saves (or prism3d.crash file). It was just a one off crash and on reloading I then cleared the boss without issue. Having finished the game I removed it and installed my next game. It was only afterwards on looking at the forum that I noticed the error I had matched exactly with the one in this thread, with it happening after a death during a boss fight.
For reference I'm using Vista Ultimate 64-bit and it was just one crash. I had died many, many times though - starting the second stage of boss fight with 7 health wasn't a good start :P

I have to say I'm seriously impressed. A working fix for a seven-year old game. You guys went above and beyond the call of duty here to make the unplayable, playable once more. Thank you.
So should I download this patch if I'm just installing today or has it been rolled into the installer since this thread was created?

Its been rolled into the new installer so no need to download the extra patch.
