Yeah, I'm thankful too but won't download FLAC to save disk space. I hope GOG gets the mp3 version up soon.

That's the whole point of FLAC - you can get it, and reencode in any lossy codec you wish. Including mp3. So if you are in a hurry, no need to wait for GOG to do it for you. (I don't recommend using mp3 though, it's an inferior lossy codec).

You sound like my brother who complains about being asked to pick "Send To > ssokolow" from his Firefox StumbleUpon toolbar and then click "OK".

The approach I linked is trivial.

First time:
1. Download and run the installer
2. Drop the FLAC files into the tool
3. Set "MP3 V0" in the output settings (Drag two sliders)
4. Press F5 and grab a cup of tea.

All other times:
1. Drop the files into the tool
2. Press F5 and grab a cup of tea.

Depending on how you use it, your unzipper might take more effort!

This actually happens with a lot of games, and it's the reason why I'm looking forward to the release of GOG Galaxy next month. Then we won't have to deal with the GOG Downloader anymore.

Thanks for the information. Now that I know the point of FLAC, please try to understand MY point: some people don't care if mp3 is lossy and have stuff to do besides converting every audio file they download, but still want to save disk space, thus prefer the quick and dirty way of downloading mp3 right away, sacrificing quality in favor of having more free time to work, sleep and post in internet forums. It's crazy, I know.

About disk space - once you encoded FLAC with some good lossy codec (using good encoder - that's important), you can delete FLAC if your disk space is limited. Good lossy codec + good encoder would produce a result which is indistinguishable from lossless FLAC. As I said - if you are in a hurry to get that music - you can always do that, and there are superb free codecs and encoders to do the job. If you have other things to do and there is no rush to get the music in compact lossy format - of course you can wait for GOG to encode it for you. Otherwise, once you figure out how to do it, it doesn't take much time and effort at all and that experience would come handy more than once in the future.

I'm getting the repeated notices that Dragonsphere has an update. I've worked and played with computers long enough that I accept that things are glitchy sometimes, but even so I'm beginning to feel a teensy bit irked.

Do you also have countless other soundtracks already stored in FLAC?
I´d really like to have a HQ-Version of some legendery soundtracks, like Gothic, Heroes III or Planescape!
