I played this game a year ago and while the online features weren't perfect they worked for the most part.

I'm not sure what happened, maybe it doesn't like Galaxy 2.0. But playing it again in 2020, the online mode is rife with connection failures and soft locks in Gran Soren and other pawn spawning areas because it can no longer connect to the server.

Anyone else encounter this recently?

I've been just using online mode to upgrade my pawns, then disabling it to get around soft locking in certain areas.

Nope, it actually works flawlessly. I mean, sure I get "Connection Failure" on loading and when searching at the Rift, and "Top Ranked This Month" category is still empty, but in the game itself I have no lags. Actually it works even better than Steam version - which is weird since they got the latest patches not GOG.

But I don't think I use Galaxy 2.0. I don't know where to find the app version but the patch notes end on 1.2 so I assume it's not 2.0.

Thanks for the reply zadymek. Maybe it is related to Galaxy 2 then.

It always works for me at first. But after 20 - 30 minutes then reaching a point where it needs to connect again, it nearly always fails or simply soft locks with the "Accessing Server" icon spinning.

Interesting. Someone has similar issue with Steam version right now. Strange.
Now, I didn't test my game online for "20 - 30 minutes", cause I'm using the archived save right now, and just went for a walk around Gransys with my main save, so maybe I'd have such issues if I'd play longer?

Yeah it's possible the problem only occurs after playing for a certain period of time.

A potential work-around for the soft-locking seems to be to ALT-TAB, then go back into the game. Most of the time this causes a connection failure error and allows you to continue playing. And weirdly after that happens, the online features work again for a while.
