As far as I know there can only be one single save because it has to be uploaded to sync the pawn. I don't know, maybe they want to prevent a situation where you make your own two extra pawns?

That's something I have a bit of an issue with as well since I like to try out every class that interests me simultaneously and then I decide which feels the best to me after spending a few hours with each. But with this one-save mechanic I find myself restarting anew again and again.

Thats fair. Personally i dont mind starting over, also i got the feeling it was easy to change classes in game so maybe you dont have to start over everytime. Have you made it to the big city yet?

Yes I have. And I think I now have my class, if you will. The Strider class seems pretty great and I love the bow. Even if the inability to block sometimes is quite annoying.
Try "dinput8 hooks" mod. Download it and copy paste dll and ini file in your game directory. Change configuration in ini file. This mod allows you to do lots of other things (not only adding multiple save slots) as well:
http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/96/
Save files can still be manually switched without issues to get multiple characters (done it in the Steam version).

I can't remember how this affect pawns (I think each savefile's pawn gets send back to the server again and overwritten, so you may not get their rewards for rent) because I threw my pawn to the ocean every time :V

Hi, saving multiple games with the GOG version of DDDA does not work with the "DInput8 Hooks" mod. The GOG version saves games in "C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\GOG.com\Galaxy\Applications\49987265717041704\Storage\Shared\Files". The "DInput8 Hooks" mod is setup for the Steam version of the game.

It works. You open dinput8.ini file and add your own custom directory for keeping saves. However, it seems that this mod only makes backups of the saves, you need to rename them manually to use. There was some other mod on nexusmods, but seems that manual backup is the best solution here. Dinput8 simply makes it somewhat more convenient (no need to alt-tab, copy paste yourself, etc.).

Hi Sarisio,

I just realized this myself. My mistake.

Thanks!

According to the mod page, and Ini, it's supposed to create save copies automatically, and rename them with timestamps added.

Save backups
A hook is placed just before the game creates a save. When it gets there, the current save gets duplicated with a timestamp added to it.
If you need to revert to previous save, simply rename it to "ddda.sav".
It should find the save path automatically, if not see dinput8.ini.
You can limit the number of backups it keeps in dinput8.ini.
Ini settings are the first entries

[main]
### Backup saves
### - it should find the save folder automatically (see the log file)
### if it doesnt, set 'savePath' manually
### (should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\USERID\367500\remote)
### - 'saveLimit' - limits number of backups it keeps
### - 'backupSaves' - turns this feature 'on'/'off'
backupSaves = on
saveLimit = 50
savePath =
So it's not working as it should, I also couldn't activate the Character Customisation screen, by selecting Manual on start screen, getting the Manual still, but not tested it fully yet.

{EDIT}
Having now tested this, once correctly configured the Mod does create multiple saves automatically.
I failed at first having set number of saves to 500, which didn't work for me.
Retuning to the default 50, started up the autosaves.
My settings are

backupSaves = on
saveLimit = 50
savePath = C:\Users\<YOUR USER NAME>\AppData\Local\GOG.com\Galaxy\Applications\49987265717041704\Storage\Shared\files

The test gave me these saves automatically
DDDA.sav
ddda_2017-06-13_16-18-13.sav
ddda_2017-06-13_16-22-14.sav

One other point I noticed Left Mouse Button still opens Manual, you have to use Enter on Manual button, to get character config working.

All in all, though it has some quirks, the mods working fine.

Why when this tool works fine, if set up right, and multi-saves is just one of many features.

Here's an example session of autosaves it created for me, after the initial test I posted above
