Hey everyone, I think there's point in the FAQ that is slightly misleading and may lead to people installing the wrong version of the Windows 10 Media Feature pack on their machines.

When installing the Media Feature Pack you need to ensure you are installing the latest one available for your exact version of Windows 10. I installed an outdated one by mistake which lead to the game failing to start up with an error dialog saying "The latest version of windows media player could not be found", and a couple of stressful evenings spent Googling the issue and trying to install various other versions of the Media Feature Pack with no success.

To find out what your version of Windows 10 is go in your Windows 10 "Settings" -> "System" -> "About". Take note of the number under "Version". Then look up the Windows 10 Media Feature Pack for that exact version number and edition (N, KN etc).

For example, my Windows 10 turned out to be edition N version 1703, for which the only correct Media pack to install (as of June 2017) is KB3133719, not KB3010081.

I could finally play the game after taking the time to lookup the correct version, and I hope others find my experience useful.

ERKwolf7: Is the DLC Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Masterworks Collection which is available on steam also included in this ?
Good question.
From the store page on GOG:

"Includes all previously released DLCs, pre-order bonuses, retailer-exclusives, and the Dark Arisen expansion content. Features the highly praised combat experience and rich customization, plus a huge underground realm to explore with terrifying monsters"

A confirmation would be nice though.
I have the Steam version Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen. I played 346 hours. This version have no share button with a camera next to the button in the pause menu.

What that button do when you click on it, it gose into a camera mode. It lets you take pretty picture of your character in every situation at any angle you like.

Is this the ealier version of the game?

So just bought the game. Can't play it due to the bottom half being cut off and the resolution looking wonky .
(playing at resolution 3440x1440)

In the FAQ it states that it does not support UWD. wow.

Tried a fix I found on the steam forum but apparently that only works on the steam version and causes game to crash.

Bummer. guess that is money wasted :(

Paczyk: Hey guys,

Here you can find the Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen - Official FAQ. If you have any additional questions about the game, then please feel free to ask them in this thread.

Cheers!
Hello,

do you plan fix the network issue/pawn system issue what others mention on the Dragon's Dogma forum in a lot of topic? As I see you've got a lot of ticket too (and I plan to write two for you). Today I started read this forum becaus the online mode is a little terrible.

Thanks for your answer! Have a nice day!
I really hope the pawn bug gets fixed. I am having a tough time with premade pawns late game.

So ya conformation from someone who has brought it on gog would be nice.
Where is the option to make Screenshots in the pause menu? I know that I can make them by pressing F12 but there should also be a "Screenshot" option in the pause menu. The other versions, including the PC version on Steam, have this. Will it get patched in later?

I have purchased it and cannot see a soundtrack anywhere (I'm pretty sure that's what you're asking about). Nothing like that appears on the store page and I don't see it under 'backups and goodies' in the Galaxy program. So I'm not 100% sure, but pretty confident that no soundtrack is available through GOG.

Thank you so much. This helps a lot. I also do believe that the soundtrack is a Steam exclusive. It's rough. Again, much appreciated, robertweiss88.
Does anyone know what the NewServer beta channel is for?

Also, people here are saying only people using cloud saves can upload their pawns. Is that expected behaviour (i.e. does the Steam version act like that too) or a GOG/Galaxy-specific bug?

Don't quote me on this, but I had a chat with a chap that analyzed the GoG version's data transfer behaviour. This is distinctively second hand knowledge and for all I know, the guy might have been talking out of his behind...

It seems that the GoG version uploads the entire save file to a server, then retrieves it afterwards. In theory, the server should add the pawn rentals to the savegame, then reload the modified save in your game.

Except that this doesn't work worth crap for most here.

The upload points to one of GoG's servers, so I have to assume that the one doing cloud saves is the same as the one who is supposed to do the data injection, which might explain why it doesn't work without cloud saves being enabled, and why data corruption can occur in the first place.

Steam's version never transfers the entire file, so I assume there is an API that handles the pawn rental data independent of the cloud saves, and integrates both when you rest at an inn.

Conjecture: the whole process is so ingrained into the steam UI that a simple port wasn't possible, and the server call handling provided by galaxy isn't up to the task. So, no easy fix available that wouldn't require massive changes to either the game or the galaxy client.

Than you for the reply.
Sounds like this game is a mess with that pawn bug and others, jeez. I've downloaded but have never installed the game, should I just try and ask for a refund seeing as how it looks like this will never be fixed? I purchased it on June 6th, but didn't know about the pawn bug until I just checked the forums today.

It depends on how much you expect the bug to affect your enjoyment of the game and how much weight you place on having a DRM-free version over Steam's. I find it a mostly very good single-player RPG, but then I only have strangers to hire pawns from, since I don't have friends playing, and currently I haven't made my own pawn available for hire.

Asking Support to clarify the situation/policy might help to concentrate their minds, I suppose.
