So I bought this game without knowing much about it and I am still going "WHAT JUST HAPPENED?" in my head.

I gave the ring and spent so many hours trying to get the gate guard to like me.

The Dragon had the Dutchess.

So I said, ok, I'll deal with that and completed the game. So guess who comes for me at the end.

The Dutchess?

NO!! The Weapons shop guy in the Dukes city. . . . .

WHAT JUST HAPPENED??

Giving the Arisen's Bond to someone only maxes out their affinity for you but doesn't stop it from going down, on top of this you may have multiple people with maxed affinity. The game picks the person with highest affinity that you last talked to before finishing the quest Deny Salvation. So if you last spoke to Caxton and then set off he will be your beloved even if someone else has just as high affinity for you.

Very important: people with maximum affinity have a pink glow to them and a small chime plays when you talk to them. If that happened, you can either:

- Rest and wait for several days, which will lower their affection automatically for most
- Draw/sheathe your weapon repeatedly around them while in Gran Soren
- Hit them
- Gift them some "Liquid Effluvium", an item from Bitterblack Isle that lowers affection to zero.

Please take note that some items are only sold by some merchants if their affection is high enough. Also, you need to raise affection with people to get their escort quests, which can net some pretty nifty rewards (Caxton's escort for example yields a bastard sword, which makes the early game a lot easier, if you can use it.)

There you go, the Arisen's short hand guide on avoiding hot dates with people you don't like. :D

The final cutscene doesn't necessarily use the same "beloved" you had in the dragon encounter.

It once again uses the last npc with max affinity you talked to.

So the last eligible npc you talked to before triggering the finale was Caxton.

Thus why he was the one to meet your pawn on the beach.

Could have been worse. At least it wasn't Fester.

It was just confusing as it was the Dutchess who was kidnapped and lived in my house and at the end it was Caxton.

So I guess this is normal for this game.

Didn't you notice that the entire storyline is bizarre? Being able to date and bed a minor is just one thing that bothers me greatly about this game? This is "normal" for anything CAPCOM. They are just ultra-weird like that. There's only one thing that this game has in its favour: gameplay.

I agree. This game is so weird (read creepy) in so many ways, and yes, the only thing good about it is the gameplay.

Wait, the Duchess is a Minor?
Where does it state this?

You can have *any* person become your "beloved", even the young girls in the city (don't remember all the names), but I was specifically referring to the witch, Selene, as a major "player".

Oh, well I admit I am not that knowledgable on pawn turned human details.
Is it anything like Doctor Who?

Just look at her. Literal age has nothing to do with it. If she was in diapers would it make a difference?

So if someone just looks young, they are?

Literal age would seem to have everything to do with it.

So you would bed a young immature girl of junior school age by looks and justify it because by some bizarre means she was 'born', 'created', whatever more than that amount of years ago? A little girl is a little girl is a little girl.

Don't forget what I said earlier, you can also date and bed ANY little girl in the game, even humans. It's sick.

If you want to project onto a random woman online, be my guest but you JUST admitted you did not read anything I posted.
A pedo has everything to do with age, that is a fact, my dear.
I won't buy into your hysteria because you can't show me what Selenes age is.

Doctor who is a thousand years old, is he a pedo for dating his companions? He's not human.
The outsider was 15 when he died, one thousand years ago. He isn't human
Someone who "Looks young" could be 23 years old, you have no idea. Is it the pigtail hairstyle?
Have you seen the lolita subculture filled with 20 something girls wearing pigtails?

Pawns are not human.

Is my boyfriend a pedo because I was 15 once a long time ago? Or did you randomly decide to attack me talking about the DUTCHESS because you WANTED to start an argument?

Shame on you for lying about me and claiming I posted things I never said.
You should be so embarrassed.
