I, like many people with these classic titles, have mods installed for Dragon Age: Origins. Don't really appreciate waking up this morning to updates for Arcanum, DA:Origins, & Morrowind (one of the most heavily modded games out there) without any indication of what these changes are and what effect they might have being applied to modded setups. Clear, transparent changelogs would be greatly appreciated GOG. Thank you.
After looking a bit I see it's in the GOG Preservation list. Supposedly 100 games are affected so far, but no list or mention of the updates.

I'm also curious if the supporting on modern hardware will mean won't run on older hardware,

Many Steam users refuse to budge past Win 7. I have Win 11.

check their store pages, that's where they list the changes

One of the many advantages of GOG is that you aren't forced to update if you don't want to. Don't blame GOG if this update broke your modded installs because you chose to install the updates when you didn't have to.

There are change logs available on both Galaxy and your games page here.

I'm aware of the feature and disable auto updates on all my modded games. I didn't blame GOG for anything. The truncated Galaxy log is very poor with missing details and literally nothing on some updates. It's been a minute since I used the site's library interface, I'd honestly forgotten the download card had a changelog tucked in that menu (and not every game has one e.g. Morrowind). The new storefront log LordPatroclus pointed out is a reasonable change—you can't even find out what version of the game you're downloading from the product page in most cases. I still believe a stickied forum post is the most conventional way to report this important information the most widely.

There also remains a lack of clarity on what files have been modified on different games (what changes, if any are involved in 'Validating stability', or 'Verifying Win 10-11 compatibility'?). A modified game exe on Morrowind would fundamentally bork the setup; DA:O not a major problem. As they're GOG specific changes, yes I'd like that information.

Verifying and validating means just that, they tested the game and saw that it worked. If that's all you see, there were no changes, and there have been plenty of "updated" games now as part of this initiative of theirs that just had those listed, so there were no actual changes to game files despite the update flag.

Thanks, that's nice to know—strange that it presents as a download in Galaxy but makes sense nothing appears on the log dialogue for Morrowind. Some patch changes aren't listed there anyway but this is reassuring to read, much appreciated!

Edit: Unconfirmed reports have appeared that these mystery downloads with no listed changes do modify something, possibly even risking issues such as save game incompatibility in certain games.
