Hi,

Could someone confirm if the Galaxy client is installed without options. I don't mean that it can be removed afterwards.
As far as I am aware, the Galaxy client was not installed, though a GOG launcher does pop up before you play. It can update the game and has a link to support.

Hi,

Yes the Galaxy client is installed, without options. I am also unable to launch this game via the Galaxy client if it is offline. When the game is installed, by default the shortcut that is put on your desktop goes through the Galaxy client. Other shave said that you cnanot play multiplayer unless you log into the Galaxy client, this seems rather DRM'ish to me.

I am considering, asking for a refund.

I hope they don't do this with The Witcher 3.

Thank you both, I will add this to the list of enforced client install games then. Makes me sad to see this happening.

To EndlessKnight, I'd just like to note that the GOG Launcher seems to be an early version of the Galaxy client, as it installs to %ProgramFiles(x86)%\GalaxyClient.

More importantly, I'd like to point out that the Double Dragon Trilogy installs two Start Menu/Start Screen shortcuts. The first is in the "Double Dragon Trilogy [GOG.com]" subfolder and has a red background. It, like the identical Desktop shortcut, launches through the GOG.com Launcher. A second shortcut is in the general "Games" subfolder and has a blue background. It launches the game directly, without the launcher, and will never bother you about failed log ins to Galaxy (which sometimes happens at various menus if you open the game through the launcher while offline).
Just to provide you an update on this. When I posted this before, i was trying to run it on my office PC which I have admin rights on and was experiencing the issues I described.

I tested on my home system and even though galaxy installs automatically, the game will run in offline mode.
By Galaxy Client, I thought you mean the full-blown application. (List of games to launch, multiplayer, achievements, etc...) I take it that they only install a component of the Galaxy Client, as it lacks these things.

It's reassuring to hear that you can run the game offline.

Around the time I posted that, I found (only about a month late) there is actually a closed alpha available for the Galaxy Client. I'm waiting and hoping to get in myself but nothing as of yet. And you may have also seen that today's Double Dragon Trilogy update made the GOG Launcher an option within the standalone installer.
