TheMonkofDestiny: Given how long it's been, I don't expect Bethesda to release the original version of Doom 3 here (much to the dismay of many who keep holding onto hope otherwise). There is (at least, for now) an alternative if you'd prefer to play the original Doom 3 and Resurrection of Evil, using a source port (there aren't many of them for Doom 3, compared to the dozens+ for the likes of the first and second Doom games) and files found
here.
(the only considerable difference with the above method is that the ports can't/don't use a patented shadow stencil buffer because... well, it's patented and can't be included in open source software distributions but the alternative to it that the ports use is just as good, if not better, so it shouldn't really impact anything that drastically)
Wait, wait, wait! Am I reading it right? Is that a FREE "version" of RoE!? o_O'
And even with all these files "on the wild" there's still no
vanilla version of Doom 3 on GOG?
Oh,
Bugthesda...you never cease to amaze me.
And yeah, I'm aware that all the data for RoE is inside the BFG edition that's why I was hoping for a custom launcher, a mod or something (if there wasn't any "legit" way to access it). Alas it seems I'm out of luck. So I guess this "dhewm3 edition" will have to do?
In any case...TYVM for the info. I'll check it out for sure ASAP. *fingers crossed*
