It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

Bought this game the day before yesterday.
Each time I run the updater,it says "error contacting server".When I reinstall the game and run the updater without applying the GOG Universal patch,it says "Invalid key".
So funny,I have e-mailed the support and no responses yet.

It might just be a server problem, which has nothing to do with your configuration.

Which version do you use? The old updater.exe is in the directory \Don't Starve\updater\16\ the new one in \Don't Starve\updater\17\. When you start the old version, it should show a message, that it's checking for a new updater and then start the "updater-update".

Is your updater already version \17\ ?

If you get the message "invalid key", try to run the updater with admin rights.

Thanks very much for your reply.
It's version 16,and tried with admin rights several times, never check for a new updater.
The GOG support says the key is valid and I'm trying contacting the developer now.

Maybe we can light things a little bit up on this end, too.

Look for a file ...\Don't Starve\updater.log

If you can find it, open it with a text editor.
There you should be able to see, with which key the updater tried to run.
Compare it to the key provided by GOG.
If it's not 100% the same, delete the file updater.json .
It's not in the game's directory, but in your local user folder (varies in different Windows versions). Try to look in My Documents for \Klei\DoNotStarve\updater.json.

You can safely try to delete updater.json anyway, because the file should be newly generated once it's missing.
(Still, make a backup!)

Already solved, due to the network ,the update server is blocked here.It began to work when I tried to use an American VPN.The game is great ! And thanks so much for your kindness and patience!

To anyone getting the invalid key message...

I was getting the same thing when I copied and pasted the key into the box, but when I typed it instead, it accepted it.

Hope that helps someone out.
Typing it seems to solve it! Guess it doesn't like laziness.
The lazy bird is catched by the smallbird ;-)

Anyway, probably you copy-paste invisible characters, so the key is actually wrong.

This problem solved at last. Thanks for all the replies :-)
The same and solved it by writing the key directly. :)
