I would contact them again if it has been more than a few days since you contacted them.

I originally did not receive a response after emailing livesupport@kleientertainment.com my GOG keys. So I contacted them two more times in May and June. I then sent one more email this weekend and got my key. They had previously responded to me twice, but the emails never arrived or showed up in my spam folder.

I hope you get your key soon. I also want a DRM free version and mentioned it in my email.

I know this may seem to be a dead thread, but does anyone ever think that since Galaxy has been going for a while here, and with continued support with updates coming to Don't Starve here with Shipwrecked, that we could ever see Don't Starve Together here? It could easily be cross-platform with Steam, for one thing.

My guess is it may be a timed exclusive since it's such a popular game, but I'm not sure. It just would've been nice!

Too bad. Developers shouldn't use lock-in. Not Galaxy, not Steamworks - developers should use something that's not tying them to any distributor. If they can't develop proper network features, they shouldn't make multiplayer games.

A year ago I was told by Klei that "We're still hammering out the details regarding players who purchased from GOG at the moment." I never heard back on what, if anything, was determined. I emailed them again now that DST is out of development.

Never before have I felt that purchases through GOG were unsupported compared to other retailers.

If anything I would say only compared to Steam. If you ask me I would call it favoritism.
I've not seen any better support at any other retailers, unless that retailer was selling Steam keys.
It just seems to me that there are some developers/publishers out there who are afraid of putting their games out anywhere else than Steam.

Actually yes, they initially "planned" to bring DST to non-Steam platforms (see: http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/37568-will-you-be-able-to-play-across-platforms/) but sadly they opted to lock in with Steam's API later that year (see: http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/44729-dont-starve-together-roadmap/). I honestly don't foresee Klei refactoring their network API for our sake - as much as I'd love to - now that they've got something that "works."

I've seen this scenario too many times. Developers (especially indie devs) opt for the quick'n'easy implementation at the expense of the DRM-free customers. That is of course their prerogative; I can only send a polite message notifying them that my purchase depends on DRM-free availability. Whether they want it or not, is up to them; some care, most don't. I have long ago come to terms with being treated as a second-class gaming citizen.

This situation is always sad to see. I might add Klei to my list of developers not to recommend or support.

Totally the same here. Enforcing one or another platform for updates (especially for multiplayer oriented options) is the worst a developer can do with their supportres. Nuclear Throne has a fan made online multiplayer mod but even that requires Steam. I will never support things like this.

It isn't my job to warn the developer about updated at the first place, he should do it automatically. But even if I do, I have better job to do than waiting for nothing. Most of the times developers never answers the customers. I'm glad at least the staff of Tempest did. I buy their game two times instead spending money on fake hopes.

No, I mean Nuclear Throne, not Klei. Klei is ... hopeless.

Well, I found this. I mean, Dont Starve is written in Lua, so nothing should obstruct from modding it into multiplayer..

Edit: this does not mean that situation sucks less. It sucks a lot.

Now we just need a programer lol.
