Ok, I've found out about mods that disable the permadeth, the best one seems to be "Compromising Survival" since it gives you various options.
Here's the problem: I can't get the file anywhere, does anyone have it and could be so kind to give it to me?
It would be sad if modding would be completely tied to Steam for this game and I'm sick of the permadeth tbh and just want to enjoy this game and have the possibility to tackle certain situations more than once until I'm better at it (and I've played it a lot already but there's always something new that kills you instantly).

How odd.

It's not as good of a solution as a mod, especially since it is restricted to only the Wilson character, but have you tried the meat effigy? You only have to survive long enough to grow a full beard and then the hair from that beard will allow you to create several effigies. The trickiest thing to obtain is the meat, but with some gunpowder you can easily get it from beefalos when they're sleeping.

Oh sorry, I phrased that poorly. I meant that the use of the effigy is not as good of a solution as the mod since only Wilson can build it. It works very well. By the time of my first Winter I was no longer concerned with dying because of the effigy. I would always build one, and leave supplies in a nearby chest to build one or two more. So whenever I died and respawned at the effigy I could immediately build another one. The only downside is that an effigy reduces your max number of hitpoints a bit which is why I only ever have one built at a time.

Anyone can build a meat effigy, not just Wilson. If your sanity is low enough, rabbits and bunnymen will become beardlings and beardlords respectively and will start dropping beard hairs when killed. It is much more convenient to make for Wilson, but the effigy is by no means a Wilson-only item.
