Hi,

so I just ran across the wishing well nad of course want to know, which wish is the best, the most "wise".

I have considered spending 1000 gold and then wish for greater experience. I have just leveled up and leveling further is a real pain. Would it be the best wish?

The 'wisest' wish would be to wait until you are a high level -- the higher the level, the more XP you get from the wish -- and then throw in 1,000 and wish for the experience. If you do this at a low level, it is not 'wise'. You should also wait until you have just leveled up, like you have.
Hickory's answer is spot on :)
On the other hand, if you are having trouble (and have already tried different areas and checked merchants for equipment upgrades, etc), an extra level earlier in the game wouldn't be a horrible idea, even if you would get less experience points. I waited until quite late in my first game to use the Wishing Well, at which point I didn't really need the extra boost.

well i still have to do the second quest for the warriors guild... i cannot outrun the dragonrider like the first boss. that quest is kind of crazy.
Oh and i have a level 30 warrior.

There is no need to do the quest right away. I was level 41 by the time I got to the ancient castle, and didn't have any problem with the dragon rider. If you approach the area slowly, though, you should be able to draw off most of his minions and kill them first, before triggering the conversation and fight with the dragon rider. The passive Stun skill helps, if you have it (and given his attack in this case, so would the survivor's Magic Barrier skill).

omg this game is so awesome... the minor quests feel like main quests and random encounters are very original in content. like those mind controlling wizards who just make you kill about 80% of the human army. Oh and how do i get into the quarantined poor quarter? i have taken a quest from some guy. he told me to go to verdistis and talk to someone. Do i have to lockpick the door? or will i get a key later?

Actually, they only made that particular camp hostile. They didn't mind control you, so you are free to avoid combat and simply run away (the spell would be broken after you encounter one of the three wizards later in the game).
You can not get help for them, though (other than waiting), or tell anyone what happened, so you would miss out on some experience.
Did you check out the notices on the billboard by the entrance to caste Stormfist after killing the soldiers?

The person you talked to in the poor quarters (Lain) that directed you to the thieves guild in Verdistis can also give you a key to get into the quarantine area (not the main gate... check the perimeter), or you can also use Lockpick.

yeah they mind control the soldiers. and i think its no longer possible to get the key from that thieves guild guy... so my only option is lockpicking? those skillpoints would be wasted wouldnt they?
I have found the lockpicking skill useful in places other than the quarantined area.

so do you think a warrior should spend 5 points for that skill?

You only need level 1 of Lockpick to get into the quarantine area.

You also need at least level 1 Lockpick to join the thieves guild, as well as a level of Pickpocket (which is possible to find as an equipment bonus). You can get 2 free levels of Lockpick there, one by joining (choice of that, Pickpocket or Evade Trap) and another by doing something in the guild.

FWIW playing a warrior I maxed Lockpick (wouldn't have been able to get all the loot out of the Aleroth catacombs without a couple levels in it). I used an amulet with Pickpocket to join the thieves guild; my Belt of the Dragon later also had a Pickpocket bonus (and Identify), which came in handy after getting into the quarantine area, for a bit of an exploit.

Maxing Lockpick helps you win the bet with Rodgar, too. (Joining the Thieves Guild with four skill points. Rob will give you the fifth.) Five thousand plus instead of five thousand down even if you do get the final skill point when you lose (which comes in very handy shortly thereafter).

I'd rather loose the bet, and think of it like buying a (relatively cheap) Lockpick skill book.

Oh yes :)

But I admire you for playing as a Warrior as I think that's the hardest class, especially at the start of the game. I tend to choose Survivor and then increase Agility and Intelligence to blend Survivor with Mage skills, so lockpicking is a skill I would naturally choose to put skill points into. Playing as a pure Warrior deserves a medal!
