GoG version is DRM free. That should mean that the larian patch requires no effort to deliver directly to GoG users. I dont understand while there is a delay of several days getting us the patches that are released on steam.

I really regret accepting my kickstarter version from GoG instead of steam now.

Steam's actually easier to update. All the devs do is push (upload) the latest version of the game to Steam and then any files that have been altered are automatically uploaded to people who have the game installed.

GOG on the other hand gets the updated files and needs to manually devise an installer that works with their installed version of the game and then put it up in the appropriate section for that game.

That makes sense. Thanks for the reply.
I think it is also one of the reasons they are working on GOG Galaxy. Building in better update support.
Manually creating an installer for every new version doesn't sound like a good way of handling updates.
Agree. But I think it comes form the support of legacy games that use emulators or that just don't have an installer to begin with or came on 37 floppy disks etc. They had to build a robust install system to deal with that and ended up using it for all the updates. Steam does it better, hope GOG improves.

I'd hope so, although I have trouble seeing how that would make the process faster without requiring Galaxy.

Sure, Galaxy could handle updates the same as Steam, allowing the game to be updated swiftly. However, since they said they'd keep a means for people to have installers/patches like 'how it used to be', I just don't see how Galaxy can help them make that go faster. I wouldn't be surprised if the only way to have guaranteed day one patches will be to use the Galaxy client.

For now people will have to contend with waiting on GOG for patches. It's 1.0.63 on Steam since earlier today.
