In the beginning, you are told to go to George to trade. So I go..and he has no gold to buy anything, nor does he have anything to sell. Is this normal for the beginning?

CrashToOverride: Haha! Have you ever tried "Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magick Obscura"? That is another GREAT game, imagine Steampunk Baldur's Gate kinda.

I was playing it when the DD patch was released, went back to play an unbuggy game of DD. I am looking forward to getting back to Arcanum . . . so many games so little time . . .=)
Edit: I messed up my Arcanum character so I wanted to start over with a little more knowledge of how to play. Also accidentally killed Virgil as well . . .=)

I heard that many of the tips for DD also help Arcanum be less buggy. And following a walkthrough loosely kind of helps making game breaking decisions.
I agree though, the characters are so easy to screw up. I just made a Magic character and found it extremely easy as long as you do not run out of fatigue, you run out and you are screwed two ways to Sunday.

Yeah, I usually just start playing and learn as I go . . . Arcanum quickly taught me that I needed to play wisely and with forethought.

It's even beyond that, it's when you find out a few hours in that you're screwed and there is NOTHING you can do that gets me all the time. Like, oops you cant kill the wolves that are blocking the path after the blimp crash.

I think you are really going to like DD, it's one of my favorite RPG's and is more forgiving than Arcanum. Really enjoy the mood of the game, great music, great story. Probably do Beyond Divinity next, than back to Arcanum. I am eyeing my new copy of The Witcher ($20 from Amazon) but it's way down the list . . .=)

THE RUNFIRST WORKED! No more static or anything! I'm already loving the game, the soundtrack makes me want to just sit back and listen to it haha! It's so laid back and "Do whatever you want". I heard Beyond Divinity was not good at all, least from the reviewers. The Witcher is supposed to be a pretty nice game, heard a lot of good things about it.

That's great . . . I will continue to recommend it and work on my directions for using it . . . =D
