There are probably other threads where people complain or nitpick about DD (first one), but none of them show up on the first page. So let's start a new thread where we complain about the game. Because I want to complain, and this is the internet, so I can. Also, we can complain about the game and still enjoy it, which I do. I will try and avoid some of the more obvious/taste related issues, such as voice acting, and focus on nitpicking instead.
First of all, it's pretty stupid that level 5 Freeze will stop some of the toughest bosses dead in their tracks but won't affect many of the most common enemies at all. For example, finding the grail involves two bosses/mini-bosses, which would make it pretty tough. Except it's super easy, because you can just freeze them and spam Meteorstrike. The same goes for most dungeons, with the only exception I can think of being the fight with Josephine after the elven burial grounds. (I haven't gotten further than that yet.) Forest trolls and mountain trolls, on the other hand, are completely immune to it, as well as insane(ly frustrating) skeletons, which comprise a large chunk of the combat. So my mage character is reduced to kiting these enemies with a bow, which he has practically no skill with and saps most of the fun out of the game.
Second, I griped about this in another thread, it's frustrating that certain builds are completely ineffective against some of the late game bosses, such as Josephine. I tried to play the game without any guides, walkthroughs or other help. This made the Josephine fight all but impossible for me since none of the skills I had invested in worked on her. This seems to be a common problem that people run into. Fortunately there are a lot of builds that do work, but there are so many skills that it's very easy to make a broken build, which means that a lot of people will end up doing a lot of grinding or cheating to get through these fights (or quit playing the game).
Third, I can enjoy easter eggs, and I don't mind hidden content when it makes sense, but some of the quests in the game and/or their solutions are so obscure and hard to find that probably nobody ever will without help. For an example, just look at the Shrimpo quest. I searched *everywhere* for that dude until I finally gave up on the quest, assuming it was bugged or something and would remain in my quest log indefinitely. I don't really want to spoil the solution here - it's easy enough to find elsewhere - but suffice it to say it's plain ridiculous.
In spite of these (and plenty of other) issues, I do enjoy the game. There are some things it does brilliantly. But I am out of time and this post is long enough. So let's end this rant. Your turn.
