I gave the shop keeper his narcotic plant. Later after he ends up dead and murdered. I'm assuming it was likely that evil looking dealer that he was talking to originally but I found no house in the village he seemed to live in. I also thought on a swerve/or off chance maybe it was the healer that took me in, as in his home was a note about owing money to him. But searches and chats there turned out useless. I would rather figure it out on my own if I can rather than just look at a guide for the answer. My only question or whatnot, is it a quest that I should be able to solve completely before ever leaving the starting village at all or do I need to look outside the village or leave and come back to solve?

The reason i asked is I asked everyone in town, I talked to everyone in town about it that I could. I searched and researched homes, especially the shopkeepers for clues. But it just doesn't progress I eventually just decided to give up on it come back to it later and left the village and went on with the other quests but its eating at me.
