Just tried to play DD for an hour and the game is amazing. Tried the survivor , but kinda got stuck while exploring the dungeons under the statue with the 4 dragons. I was unable to find the key to that damn door.
Would've continued , but I was unable to save. When the hell are you allowed to save in this game?
It won't let me click the save button.

You should be able to save pretty much anywhere, as long as you are not in a conversation or cutscene. There is one small area later in the game were saving is disabled until you get to the end (there is a cutscene as you enter and another at the end that are connected).

Did you try quicksaving? (Ctrl-S)

In the save window, did you type a name for the save in the text box? You can also select a save (once you have made one) in the list to overwrite it, or to use that name as the basis for a new one (ie select 'Alerth dungron level 1' and change the 1 to a 2 when you get to the next level to make a new save).

Sometimes there are levers to open doors, or other mechanisms. In the graphics options changing the darkness setting to 50 will increase the light radius around your character, and increasing the gamma may help you see things in dungeons (though you don't want the screen too bright outside in the daytime).

I tried typing a name in the title window in the save screen , but it wouldn't allow me to click on it. Maybe the installation bugged. I'll try a second time , if it doesn't work , I'll re-install it. The game is too great to simply quit it.
And thanks for the heads up with the levers :D
I'll look for them more closely.

You should be able to click anywhere in the text line at the bottom of the save window. That should put a blinking text cursor at the far left. Typing any characters should enable the checkmark button to save (will turn from grey to brown, like the X button to close the window), or you should be able to hit Enter.

Sounds like your computer doesn't have permission to save in the save directory.

Try installing the game NOT in default C:\Program Files (x86) which causes ENDLESS problems on these forums.

Make a game directory and install all your games there.
