I have already searched the forums here and found a couple other people with the same problem. Unfortunately I have already tried all of these issues. For the attempt at reinstalling the MS Redist. packages I am told that I have a more up to date version installed and that installer will close. I have also copied directly every dll I could find that was installed with D: OS into the System32 folder where my missing dll file is supposed to have been. I have also copied and pasted the actual dll file from my wife's computer (who installed and ran it just fine from Galaxy on her computer) and was given the error "Could not locate the entry point _crtCreateSymbolicLinkW procedure in the dynamic link library MSVCR110.dll".

I have Windows 10 64 bit. I've submitted a ticket with GoG as well but don't expect to get a response back. We just bought the collectors edition with the expectation of playing together and now I am sitting here with a computer that can't for the life of me find a dll file.

I am currently downloading the individual install files from GoG main site in the hopes that this will randomly fix the problem. Thank you in advance for any help anyone can give.

Edit: Installing out side of Galaxy did nothing different. It installed the MS Redist needed and still came back with the same dll error. I also ran the command prompt sfc /scannow as an administrator and it came back and said 'Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.'

Please help, so far this was 40$ down the drain since neither of us want to play without the other.

Try right clicking the EoCApp.exe file and select Properties, switch to the Compatibility tab and set the game to run in a Win 7 compatibility mode. That helped one person with a similar error in Win 10.

Try uninstalling the 2013 VC Redistributable package, reboot and install it again (the 32 bit and 64 bit versions).

I tried the compatibility mode just now and it gave the same error. The box has been popping up 4 times in a row for some reason.

Also, the link says that download is no longer available. This is the same page I have been ending up at on every forum that links back to MS redist packs.

Edit: oh yea, I had uninstalled every redist pack I had on my computer in the hopes that the D: OS installer would have everything for the game but still no luck. Now I have no redist packs and all the links to them are either broken or the search bar on the MS site isn't helpful.

Yeah, it looks like Microsoft has broken the usual download links.
Try this page.

I was able to download the 2013 redist pack as Raze_Larian suggested and have received the same error. The dll file still isn't in my system32 folder. The other solution I found from other sites suggested the 2012 update 4, but that link from this new list fe79 gave me is broken as well as others on that page.

I don't get what is happening, I don't understand the back end of programing and such so this is all over my head.. So many suggestions are for these Redist packages yet none of them actually contain the dll file when I manage to find them. You'd think the most recently updated pack would have it along with all previous stuff. Speaking of the newer ones, I don't really want to download newer ones again since my original problem after finding the downloads was that it would halt the setup because of a 'more up to date version already installed.'

Thank you for the responses. I hope we get this working cause I don't want to have to refund this on two accounts.

Edit: I also downloaded the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant and it says I'm updated to the latest version. Added a screenshot of the new 404 page from the list recently given along with the error message.

Which one did you install? 32-bit or 64-bit?
On 64-bit Windows, only the 64-bit redist will put the DLLs in the System32 folder; the 32-bit redist will put them in the SysWOW64 folder.

Also, D:OS will be 64-bit on your system, and will thus need the 64-bit VC++ runtimes.

What do you mean by "newer ones"?
The different editions (2012, 2013 etc.) are independent. Various programs will require various editions of the VC++ runtimes, so one will often need to have most/all of them installed.

I just checked what VC++ runtimes are actually loaded by D:OS (EE) on my machine; for some reason it seems to load DLLs from both the 2012 and 2013 editions.

Also, the "more up to date version already installed" is not an error message. It is purely informational.
It is only a problem if you get that message when you do not have the corresponding runtime already installed, in which case it means your system is messed up.

Edit:
Some of the links on that page seem to be crap as well. For now, you can get the relevant files from me (they are digitally signed by Microsoft, so trusting me is not required):

I don't have a SysWOW64 folder (at least not one I could readily find with my folders not hidden), but I installed both x86 and x64 just in case. Edit: Yes I do, I didn't look in the windows folder.

By newer ones I meant the 2015 & 17 ones cause those were not allowing me to install the 2013 and prior versions, maybe its just cause I didn't have the one you linked to me.

The first one you attached worked for me, I am able to launch the game now. Thank you so much for your help and I apologize for using your time. I wouldn't have had to be so frustrated at myself and MS if they just kept that install available on their site.

Different editions should not interfere with each other. If they do, something is wrong.
Also, the older editions (2013 and older) allow you to have multiple versions installed simultaneously. Attempting to install an older version than what you already have should either install the older version side-by-side with the newer one(s), or do nothing at all, depending on command-line options given to the installer. Automatic redist installers (e.g. the ones launched by game installers) are notorious for installing older runtime versions.
In general, you can safely uninstall all but the latest version of each edition (both x86 and x64).

The newer editions (2015 and 2017) only allow for one installed version. Attempting to install an older version of those might give the "more up to date version already installed" message.

Yeah, it kind of sucks that they are making it so difficult to get the redistributables now. It seems that they want to force people to register accounts on their Visual Studio site just to get the runtimes, which is ridiculous.
Even with an account, the links are still broken though. Classic Microsoft.
