Hi gog. The version of Divinity Original Sin that you sell has a missing dll according to dependency walker, of 'MSS32.DLL', that is, part of the miles sound system (bink video).
Since there are reports that the game steam version works in wine, but this does not, that might be the cause, since it's hanging on startup for me - or it might not be the case, because miles sound system is paid for and i can't verify.

Have you tried downloading the dll file? I'm finding it online at plenty of places.

NO! Don't do this! This is bad advice. This is a primary means of malware infection. Avoid such sites like the plague! If you have a component of Bink video missing, then reinstall the Official Rad Tools. Always reinstall official files, NOT those 'found' online.

I downloaded from three different sites and ran them through https://www.virustotal.com/en/. All came up clean. The version might be incorrect, though.

By the way, your link is broken. And Radtools doesn't supply that dll file.

Alternatively, put in a support request through gOg, or maybe someone here can attach their dll file.

As to why they don't supply it as a simple download? From the FAQ: I'll make the assumption that a secondary reason is so end-users don't try to use this as a missing dll solution and then inundate support when it doesn't work. You probably need to buy one of their content creation packages / SDKs to get the file. At any rate, it doesn't appear to be sitting on the site for just anybody to grab.

As mentioned, hit up gOg or Larian support, or another forum member can post the file from their installation.

Bottom line: do NOT search for missing DLLs online. Go to the source.

Yay - let's pick nits. Apparently I was typing a reply as you edited; for certain the link was broken at the time. It's now fixed. No, I didn't F5 the thread and retest the link before clicking "Post my message". Sue me.

And it's not necessarily a full hour - could be as little as a couple minutes: 3:59 vs 4:01. Is the timing really that big of a deal?



To the OP:

Not sure why you'd have that message. I just installed the game and performed a file search. The installer did not install that file and the game launches and plays on my machine (I ran it for maybe ten seconds to see if the game world would work). I do have the file in several other locations (different file versions), within the folders for other game installations, but not for D:OS. The installation does, however, include the binkw32.dll and other radgametools files in the Shipping subfolder.

It probably wouldn't be the end of the world to grab MSS32.dll from another game installation (pick the newest file, I suppose) to try it out in the Shipping subfolder, but as radgametools points out in the FAQ, it probably won't work.

I would try that, others would not. Up to you. Otherwise, try gOg or Larian support.
