Cliftor: This is so strange. I wonder why I haven't been having these problems? I've had maybe like 4 ctd total, but they were all pretty random. I also had one or two instances were I couldn't select objects like stairs, but reloading fixed those.
I haven't had any of the unrelenting, recurring problems listed here. Am I just lucky?

Seems that you are indeed, maybe post your system and video stats so the rest of us can see what works.
You don't have the spinning monks at the church???
Collie: -- Finally killed the Orc boss (probably my 20th attempt) by using the level 2 freeze spell I never bothered with until now. I found after he thawed out, if I didn't freeze him straight away the game would CTD immediately. Using the spell I could freeze him, hurt him bad, then immediately freeze him with the skill again and hurt him some more, avoiding a CTD which happens if I use the sword instead and miss the crucial attack straight after he thaws. There seems to be some kind of issue with enemies getting hurt that causes the crash. They don't need to even attack to crash the game.
I like to play thru with no advantage too but using freeze came about as the only way to avoid a CTD on some bad guy encounters. If we get a patch, I will play thru without it . . . really enjoy the game but being focused on avoiding CTD has taken much of the fun out of the game.
I learned early on that DD did not allow you to take on large groups. I lured the regular orcs away, dispatched them, went back for more . . . no need for freeze on them. When the orc chief is the only one left, I would load the poison weapon skill, right click, than load the freeze skill, leaving me with left click sword . . . right click freeze. That strategy allowed me to continue without being preoccupied with CTD. Not sure when I started doing that, trial and error ??
