My poor character, he is weighed down by 300 pounds of scorpion traps. I only want to carry a few with me at once. So my question is - can and how do you split stacks of items?
Yes, I've tried to do all combinations of using the alt, shift, and ctrl keys to drag and drop stacks, etc. nothing works for me. Any ideas? This should be a pretty basic thing for a game like this to have.

Open your inventory, drag the multi-item outside of the inventory window, still holding the left mouse button, press control and release the item, should ask you how many you want to drop, type in 10, you drop 10.
Edit: Don't press the Control key until you have the item outside of the inventory. . . =)
You can hold the items over a chest or box window to put X amount in a chest.

After doing it a couple of time it makes sense but I struggled with it at first myself . .
