Shoelip: So the general consensus is that there is no consensus?
There is a small difference in the starting stats between the classes. They are basically irrelevant to game play. The male/female stats within a class are the same. Leveling up 3 or 4 levels will allow you to match or exceed the stat difference for the other classes. Charms and magic items can boost the stats considerably for any class. Any class can be a powerful mage, warrior or survivor with gender having no affect on game play.
There are some expected dialog changes when addressed by NPCs "but you should be prepared to be called "sir" and referred to in masculine terms regularly regardless of which sex you choose."
Quoted from here. At the
brothel, (**spoilers** see # 3) either sex can have sex with a prostitute of either sex.
The most important aspect is . . . regardless of your characters sex . . . you can use any weapon or skill just as well as the other sex. You still have to concentrate your experience and skill points in the weapon or skill you prefer but . . . your damage will be the same regardless of character since strength levels are strength levels. etc. etc.
In Diablo a Barbarian could use a bow but not as well as a rogue. DD does not care about character type . . . if you increase your bow skill, sword, axe or magic skill . . . you will cause the same damage as the other sex and have the same accuracy and power.
This has been my experience with DD . . . =)
