Yes, when the game is released it will be available on GOG (kickstarter backers have the option of getting the digital version though GOG, the Larian Vault or Steam).

The alpha and beta will be just through Steam, though.

Ok,wait for GoG.Thank you.
Wait, will there be steam workshop support? I know Luarian said it was made with heavy modding in mind but will it have the workshop integration?

Yes, though of course that will not be the only way to share mods.

Looking forward to this. What little I've seen of it so far reminds me of Neverwinter Nights and Infinity Engine games. Plus Dragon Commander was a fun game, if a bit frustrating in the RTS segments. I'm liking that the games are in different styles each time (barring DD and BD being both Diablo-esque). So far, I've had the most fun with Divinity 2.

I think DC was sort of interesting, but they didn't quite manage to communicate to the player well enough. There might be a gem in there, but as someone who got DC as a bonus for kickstarting D:OS, I wasn't prepared to dig for it without more tutorial support than I got. RTS has the most brutal learning curve of almost any genre, and it probably needed Star Craft-style intro campaign levels, honestly.

However, this is definitely the sort of thing that takes a lot of hours to make. They would be better off putting this kind of stuff into a DC2, if they were to ever do that. I get the feeling that just adding more to DC isn't the way to go, and that they shouldn't go back to DC until they're ready to reinvent the wheel as needed and figure out what worked and what didn't.

I agree, the RTS segments could have used better tutorial levels. As someone who doesn't play every RTS out there, I struggle with that section, and usually try to stack the odds enough in my favor I can use auto-battle to bypass it as much as possible. I should try to wrap my head around it sometime as flying around as the dragon roasting the enemies is fun.

Honestly, though, I prefer turn-based strategy to RTS. I have enough problems micro-managing as it is without the added pressure of an AI or twelve simultaneously trying to make my life miserable. I get that from the original StarCraft and WarCraft III, heh. I still have fun with DC anyway, and I will likely try to understand the RTS segments better as time goes on. =)

And to top it off isn't the Steam version supposed to be DRM free as well?

Yes the release will be DRM free, even on Steam (only requiring the Steam client to install/update the game).

Then this is one of the few cases where I see no reason not to go with Steam......Unless I'm missing something?

Dragon Commander is very easy on the strategy, though. I agree that the tutorial is rubbish - I certainly got nothing out of it - but you learn it pretty quick as you go along, and I really liked the game in the end. Not to defend the tutorials or anything.

So, Original Sin. Any word on when it's going to be released or at what price?

The German publisher leaked April 25th, but Larian has not officially announced a release date, other than 'spring' (and specifically said they wouldn't until they were 100% sure of the date).

The current Steam Early Access price is the release price (US$40, or $60 for a duo pack).
