"Thank you" for not telling us why it took so long and why you didn't care about your customers which hadn't any information why the patch took so long and when to expect it. "Great" community management ...
Well, at least it's finally out. Yay!

blah blah blah.

saying GOG doesn't care about their customers base on 1 minor issue just shows the kind of person you are in reality when in the past GOG has proven many times that they do care about their customers. you're acting like a self entitlement brat and think you are 100% perfect in every way and everything in reality.

There's a very important difference between saying GoG don't care about their customers (which they clearly do) and that GoG didn't care about their customers (which in this instance appears to be the case).

This is still the same company that turned out substantial free updates for the Witcher and dedicated a lot of energy to providing games without any form of DRM, but they clearly screwed up here and didn't even say why.

Anyway glad they finally managed to get a patch out, but I'm still going to be incredibly wary about buying new third party games from them in future.

You do realize that we test all the patches we receive and the bigger the game, the longer the tests are going to take, right? We really don't withhold anything from you guys as far as patches go.
Still, proper communication is rather essential, isn't it?
We didn't know if you received the patch, if you were testing it and how long would it take.

All we knew is "everybody is playng the game except GOG users, who are left with game breaking bugs and no patch in sight".

I do apologize for any lapses in communication but rest assured we'll do our best to improve :)

Larian released four patches as far as i know. 2 introduced game breaking bugs (which is btw why a lot of people couldnt play), 1 was roled back after a couple of hours because it messed up the game even more.
1.40 is the first "real" patch and it was released yesterday/the day before (depending on your timezone). now it is available at gog.

what this should tell you is that 1. "fast" definitely isnt the way to go with Larians patches and 2. GoG is as fast as they can.
and they reassured 2. a couple of times.

why not blame Larian for not being able to supply working patches, lack of planing or even releasing a working game in the first place :)

I see your mature reaction and I'm astonished by it.

You had many many days to say something to us. You had chosen to stay calm, no, even absent. There were clearly people wondering whats happening and it would had been easy to clarify what the issues are. But I'm really tired of getting told Larian caused the trouble from one side and GoG caused the trouble from the other. In fact both of you weren't able to listen to your customers. And thats not the way to show how much you care about us and delivering quality.

I guess I was lucky to never have noticed any glitches. I wonder if there's a chance to speed up the loading times.

The one truly game-breaking glitch was that you couldn't play your save files from the older patch using the newer patch.
Now that has been fixed.

I like GOG, they've been helpful before, even though this was quite a delay. Well, as I said: AT LEAST IT'S OUT, we should play instead of whining here :D
Well, it's here, a patch for Dragon Commander. Sarcasm aside, I will say that I'm glad to see at least someone (GOG.com) is giving the patches additional testing before releasing them to users. We may have only seen two patches here on GOG.com, but at least nothing has needed to be rolled back.

This is the only part that gets me. The only trouble I really had was the crash on the Planet Earth custom campaign map...well, aside from having to deal with the one-two punch of being left-handed and having certain hardcoded controls working against me (like the "why do my factories keep vanishing on me?" problem I keep running into that turned out to be caused by my preferred camera/move left key (L) also being hardcoded to "Sell the selected building").

I knew from the Larian forums that one of the patches released had broken things and been rolled back on Steam, but I never heard much more than that. The 1.0.33 patch was probably the most frustrating, because I knew it fixed the Planet Earth map issue and while the Larian representative (responding to my crash report) told me the 1.0.33 patch had just been published on Steam and would be sent to GOG.com later that day, when I sent a ticket to GOG.com six days later, I was told by a GOG.com representative that "We are still waiting for the final version of the patch."

I grant that not everyone is constantly checking the Larian forums or watching Steam's patch updates for Dragon Commander (I certainly don't), but to GOG.com, I submit that when a new patch comes out, that is when you should make a stickied thread about it in the forums, and then use that post to keep us up to date about patch testing progress and when it's finally been pushed to users. Or alternatively, use it to tell us what's wrong with it and why it won't be pushed out to us.

Given that we were stuck on one of the two non-functioning patches for over a week as they let two working patches slip by "fast" was undoubtedly the way to go. GoG's insistence on testing other company's patches caused way more problems than it could solve. When it comes to older games this policy decidedly has its advantages but they really need to rethink it as it pertains to new releases. Their testing didn't stop them releasing 1.018 and even if it had it's unarguable that we'd have been better off on 1.033 and 1.040.

If Larian had released a non-functioning patch without quickly fixing it then I'd be blaming them, as it stands they fixed the issues almost immediately and GoG refused to give us access. Emotionally I still want to use them, but pragmatically I can't when it comes to new titles not by CD Projekt Red.
Crossing my fingers that this finally lets me play the game on a nice resolution.
