I haven't tried to play the Planet Earth map yet, but I did encounter game corruption on one of the other maps with the first patch running - the spiral-shaped one whose name I don't remember offhand.

So, while I do feel that it would be helpful to have a patch-progress statement here and there while dealing with future updates, I fully prefer that GoG take the time to put any such patches through the grinder. A slow-coming patch is far preferable to a game-breaking one.

Rubarack: There's a very important difference between saying GoG don't care about their customers (which they clearly do) and that GoG didn't care about their customers (which in this instance appears to be the case).

This is still the same company that turned out substantial free updates for the Witcher and dedicated a lot of energy to providing games without any form of DRM, but they clearly screwed up here and didn't even say why.

Anyway glad they finally managed to get a patch out, but I'm still going to be incredibly wary about buying new third party games from them in future.

JudasIscariot: You do realize that we test all the patches we receive and the bigger the game, the longer the tests are going to take, right? We really don't withhold anything from you guys as far as patches go.
You test patches but still allow game breaking bugs to slip through?

But either way, you took so long to deploy the patch that I grew tired of this stupid game.

Larian Studios makes the Game, and the Patch, THEY DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH DEVELOPMENT.

Let's say they DID though, what then, they have their PCs in the labs set up and they test the game and it works for them. Great. Deployed. Now, one or two or even ten system builds out of the near INFINITE possibilities has a crash, and it's their fault. Okay, what would you have them do next? Leave us in the dark? Fix it? Shoot us with rubber bands?

These games are each Unique. This is a new Game Engine, and you expect it to be perfect. How long has Fallout 3 been out? How high is it rated again? Oh, that's right, it's only one of the most respected games in history and is consistently on the best games ever lists. But guess what. It consistently crashes on my PC. Over and over again. There are patches and fixes for it, and I have to set them up manually, but I am not going to complain to Valve because they did not patch Bethesda's and Obsidian's game. It's not their fault.

So please, stop complaining about timing. They will do what they can, just like they always have.

Well, only you can't tell anyone here he is allowed to complain or not. ;)

I'm not sure what that means? but I was in a bit of a mood when I wrote that. People who complain about things that can't be controlled irritate me.

People who have to defend something they know nothing about irritates me aswell.
If you want to sit and wait here 2 weeks for a patch, be my fucking guest, I will download the patches from piratebay, or use cracked Steam patches, GOG wont survive for very long if they are going to run it the way they do now. Their DRM-free bullshit is crap compared to a game with DRM, it's the sad truth. But mark my words, this was the first and only game I purchased from GOG, it doesnt matter how hard you try to defend the game, the developer, the publisher or the retailer, they are still retards.

When you realize how far from the truth this is, you will be sorry. GOG is currently the largest DRM free retailer in the world, and they have been around for quite a few years now, with a collection of over 600 games in the catalog. But yeah, maybe you are right. There can be complications with getting a patch released, so GOG, you should all die in a fire. It is 100% your fault that this ONE GAME was not patch as fast as other players want. BULLCRAP! And what does DRM have to do with patches anyway? NOTHING!

Games with DRM gets their patches faster, how about that?
But there is a fix coming soon, Larian studios will take a crap on GOG and let everyone who purchased DRM-free patch the game through an online patcher. And seriously 99% of those 600 games are old games so who cares, it's like bragging about how many apps there are on Android Market, who cares? It's not like I would play them again just because they made them work on a modern OS.
There's only a couple millions players on Steam and Origin who doesnt agree with you, and they even give refund for crap games that you dont want after a purchase.
The 1.0.64 patch has been released on Steam and for the Larian Vault version (see here). Presumably GOG will release the update sometime this coming week, or so.

You are apparently forgetting that GOG originally stood for GOOD OLD GAMES. This website originated as a place where people could come to get the old classics that were no longer available anywhere else. That was the whole point. And DRM in itself has nothing to do with patches.
They say the 1.0.64 patch from larian vault is gog compatible but where is the download button? lol
avatar
Raddenschlegga: where is the download button?
If you have the Larian Vault version of the game, the patch is listed in 'Your Games' if you are logged in. If not, you will need to get it from someone who does have that version, or find a link online somewhere... like here.

Thank you! I have the GOG Version and saw that the Steam Version is already on 1.0.64, where my GOG version is only 1.0.40. Im very grateful that you share your larian vault patch and i hope that i can finally see my gold skin xD.

That is history, GOG is now a retailer for new games aswell, dont know how that slipped your mind.
I think everyone here knows that DRM doesnt have anything to do with patches, where did you get that from?
The point is, if you purchase a game with DRM you get patches faster than if you purchase a game without DRM, that is what I think is wrong with GOG, they delay the patches. I know very well why they delay them, I still dont agree with them or you.

Then do all of us a favor and leave. If you are so against DRM and GOG, then why do you keep coming back here?
And you really know how to contradict:

I think everyone here knows that DRM doesnt have anything to do with patches... if you purchase a game with DRM you get patches faster than if you purchase a game without DRM. Hmm....
