Greetings!

I am experiencing some strange graphical bugs and I need help in dealing with them.

I`ve maxed out all graphical settings in this game, but there is very visible stuttering during gameplay.

With VSYNC turned ON or OFF FPS still seems to hop from 60 to 140, changing 2 settings having something to do with Multicore didn`t help. Also, turning in-game FPS cap ON or OFF didn`t make any difference.

I am playing on a laptop with GTX1050 4Gb, WIndows 10 64 bit.

QTwon: there is very visible stuttering during gameplay.
In the graphics settings, try setting Distance Rendering to low and enable time slice shadows.

Try the 4GB Patch to increase the amount of virtual memory that the game (or any 32 bit application) can access in 64 bit versions of Windows. One person reported that it eliminated most of the stuttering they were experiencing.

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game?

Wow, never thought I`d get an answer from a developer.

I tried the 4Gb patch + setting the Distance Rendering to low + enabling time slice shadows and that helped a little. At least now I`m getting almost constant 60 fps without it spiking up to 140. Character animations seem very smooth, but the stuttering is still there when moving the mouse to look around. I don`t use any constant antivirus software, just some occasional check-ups with portable solutions, so that shouldn`t be a problem.

I played the original Ego Draconis back in 2009 on my old PC with some serious issues but I loved the game, and I remember most of my adventures in it, so some slight stuttering won`t stop me from enjoying it again.

Thank you for your help and marvelous games. I hope the Divinity series will be continued.

DavidLHall: Help Please?

I am stuck in Maxos Temple. I keep killing the monsters and closing doors; but, I cannot figure out how to open the door to exit.

I do not have any saves prior to entering and getting stuck. I do not want to start over, since I am at level 20.

I have a picture of the floor plan and I hope someone will be able to tell me how to get out of here, Please?

If you can tell me how to get out; please message me or email at Assuredd@gmail.com

Thanks in advance.

I can not get Divinity 2 Developers Cut to run. It starts with the Larian intro page and then another page opens. After that it apears it might be loading a cut scene but in the bottom right i get a notice that Gog Galaxy is doing something. probably checking for saved files or soemthing. But then it all exits to my desktop.

Any Ideas? It said in the help to reinstall codec files. I dont have any codec files installed so i installed k-lite but that didnt help at all

If you check the Event Viewer, does that give an error code or 'Faulting Module' file name that might help identify the cause of the crash?
- click Start (or WinKey-R), then type "event viewer" into the search box. in Windows 10, 'event' should bring up 'View event logs'.
- after starting the Event Viewer, expand 'Windows Logs' in the left column and select 'Application'
- in the center column, look for a recent error (maybe sort by Date and Time) for the game, or search for 'Divinity2'
- check the information under the 'General' tab below the list of events, starting with "Faulting application name..."

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game? Firewalls have also caused conflicts.

Try verifying local files: in Galaxy, select Divinity II - Developers Cut in the left column, then click on the More button, and in the Manage menu select 'Verify / Repair'.

Try renaming the intro.wmv and loading.wmv videos in the '..\SteamApps\common\divinity2_dev_cut\Data\Video' folder. That may avoid a startup crash.

Try starting the game directly from the '..\Divinity II - Developers Cut\bin' folder: Divinity2.exe is the normal mode, while Divinity2-debug.exe has the optional 'Developer Mode' cheat menu. Right click the executable and run as administrator.

PhysX is one of the more common causes of crashing on startup, though I think generally that cause a crash before any loading or splash screens; installing the latest version may help, if the other troubleshooting doesn't. You can also install the version that comes with the game (in the support folder); you may need to uninstall the current version and reboot first. If that gets the game to start, you should then be able to update to the latest version of PhysX.
You can also reinstall the other support packages in the install folder, MS VC and DirectX 9c (the latter does not come installed by default in Windows 7 or 8, so can be the problem after a new install; it is already included in Win 10, and can not be installed separately).

Check for updated drivers, and Windows updates in general.

Try the 4GB Patch to increase the amount of virtual memory that the game (or any 32 bit application) can access in 64 bit versions of Windows.

You could try setting a lower game resolution manually by editing the file below in a text editor, and/or put the game into windowed mode (unsupported) by changing the one to a zero in Fullscreen="1".
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Divinity 2\Profile\graphicoptions.xml

The easiest way to get to that folder would probably be to copy the following into the location bar in Windows Explorer.
%LocalAppData%\Divinity 2\Profile

To browse there, you may need to set Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders (covers Vista through Win 10):

If that doesn't help, check out the suggestions and links in the discussions / topics below:
