Hello guys, I've been playing Divine Divinity since last sale and I'm enjoying it a lot. But as many people I've found some troubles, and after read in a lot of topics from here, Steam, Larian, etc. I still have some doubts about performance and stability.

Right know I'm running the game as installed, no additional patches, just changed rendering to software, increased the resolution and disabled compatibility mode, just with this the game runs smooth and perfect balanced between good distance and be able to read texts.

But as the tittle says, the game still crashes sometimes, never with an error message, almost never to desktop, just freeze and need to close the process. I've read about the performance patch, but unless I've read it wrong, that made the game run smooth using Direct 3D instead software rendering (is worth the change in visuals effects and so?) but not solve the crashes, same for Wine, Application Compatibility Toolkit, etc. All those methods are related with the game running smooth and not suffer stutters and FPS drops but my problem are the crashes >_<.

Aside that I've read about using dxdiag to turn off some sound setting, bet never managed to found that option (I can't change anything on the sound tabs even as admin) and about running the game in Win 98 compatibility mode, but I was unable to run the game using that mode.

Any advice?

I'd try the "Windows XP" compatibility mode instead.
