Hello guys,

I bought Divine Divinity on this site but noticed that I can only download the English, Chinese, Hungarian and Turkish version of the game. I decided to install the english version of the game and hoped that I could change the language after the installation but I was wrong. So my question is, where can I download the german version of this game? On the shop site it clearly says that this game is in german too.

Best regards

finalzero
I, for example, can download only English version.
See this thread: http://www.gog.com/forum/divine_divinity_series/dragon_commander_languages_beside_english

Finalzero: where can I download the german version of this game?
It looks like GOG is updating the installers (Chinese, Hungarian and Turkish did not used to be bundled with the English installer for Divine Divinity). Either there was a Glitch listing the German version again, or it is temporarily unavailable while they update it.

I don't think this is a glitch. I can't see a German version either. Well, I don't care if this is the fault of Larian or GOG ... it simply gets on my nerves. Lessons learned: Larian prefers steam (beta access for instance and I bet I would get the other languages there) and GOG is unable to communicate with their community and give us facts ("We need some hours to get the language packs up", "Larian hadn't provided the language packs until now but we should get them till [time]", "There are problems with the restructured site please follow these instructions"). As we are only the paying customers I guess its not that important to them.
So you can shitstorm me now, I don't care, I'm clearly pissed.

This post is about Divine Divinity, which had a German version available, which is now not listed and the English version has been changed.

Larian used Steam for the Dragon Commander Beta because Steam has a beta program in place to support that; GOG does not.

GOG writes their own installers, which adds a little bit of time, while Steam allows Larian to update directly. There is no preference for Steam, it is just a little faster to provide updates there than make patches for either the GOG or Larian Vault versions.

There certainly could have been a notice put out with the game's release that there would be a delay with other languages. I haven't gotten back to the general forum, so don't know if GOG has since commented on this.

Oh, sorry, you are right. I messed it up. :)
But nonetheless the whole Dragon Commander launch is at least for me nothing but frustrating. :P
Yeah I'm refering to Divine Divinity and not Dragon Commander. The shop site show different launguage than the one that are available to download. And when I'm looking deeper it seems that the german version for Divine Divinity was available in the past here at gog.com why it has been removed?
IIRC there have been distribution rights-related issues with German versions of some games. I don't know if that's the case with any of Larian's, but it's the most likely cause.

The German version is still listed on Steam and in the Larian Vault, and the French, Russian and Polish versions are also missing from GOG.

Not only on GOG. The DRM free version on Gamersgate also has the same number of gigabytes. So I conclude that other languages than english aren't included there either and I conclude that Larian messed up with the translations, not the sellers like GOG or Gamersgate.

I don't have the Gamersgate version, but at lest with GOG the language packs were available as separate download, so would not be included in the listed game size.

There were language packs here. If Larian had to have them removed for some reason, then you'd think the DD page would be updated to reflect that.

Also, games have been removed from GOG for legal/licensing reasons, but the people who purchased the games could still access and redownload them. In this case, people who previously owned the game no longer have the German language available.

It seems to me likely that the main installer for the game was updated (presumably to include the music fix as well as the additional text languages) and now the original language packs also need to be updated.

But that has nothing to do with this release. It's a new game. The game was/is advertised german language at the moment I bought it. If there are licensing problems Larian had to settle that before they advertised it with these languages. So now it's an essential part of the contract between the buyers and Larian. If they don't deliver these laguage packs sooner or later it's a breach of contract. That's international law. So they can't simply alter their site and say sorry we don't deliver the game with german language. If they do that the buyers can accept that or have the right to retreat from the contract and get a refund.

I don't know why they deliver language packs. I find it more comfortable with a multilanguage installer. OK you have to download more but so I also have to download the whole english version plus the german laguage pack.

Now you can select a german installer for Divine Divinity at the Download page but the game still remains in english. What is this? ....

As I said in the release thread, we are uploading the German, French, and Russian versions of Dragon Commander. Please bear with us for just a little longer. The German version of the game should be finished sometime soon.
