Hi all,

II bind potions to F1..F2, weapons to F9..F11 to quickly switch between bow and melee weapons,
but for spell it seems not to work: Even if the spell icon (from browse spell hud) display F5 or F6 for a certain spell, pressing respective key has no effect in combat. Thus I have to pause battle, mouse-click on (defense) spell icon to have it active on right mouse button and instantly do the same again for offense spell to be enables on right mouse button click.

So to summarize - function key binding is displayed on spell icons but pressing them during battle does not change active spell whereas it works for potions and weapons.

Anything I miss here? I use GOG.com version which display 1.0061A in bottom right corner inside the game.

Any hints greatly appreciated as this really spoils the otherwise addictive game.

Thanks-

This is strange, because I've had no problems binding spells to hotkeys. What I do is use the "browse skills" button at the bottom right hand side of the main UI. This opens a big panel with all of your skills, including spells. Then I mouse over the spell I want and hit the hotkey I want. The hotkey is then listed on the icon, and pressing the appropriate key selects the spell as it should.

Perhaps this is some issue with how you set the hotkeys? Or maybe specific function keys are not working on your keyboard? What happens if you try to bind a spell to F1 or F2?

The hotkeys should allow you to switch between active skills and spells...
Does your keyboard have any multimedia functions assigned to the F5-F8 keys, and you have to hit a function shift key to get the standard function key behavior? They would have had to work properly to assign the hotkeys, though, so there would need to be a toggle setting somewhere for this to be the issue.

Eventually you'll want to switch to just using restoration potions (once you have more than 80-160 vitality or mana).

The latest version of the game is 1.0062A; see the topic music fix.

Many thanks to you both for your quick replies!

Waltorious, I initially did it exactly the same like you decribed but to no avail.
Raze_Larian, I have a plain keyboard, no multi media. Only issue I may have, I have assigned CTRL+F2, CTRL+F5 for Save and Load command.

However, yesterday I did both of the following:
changing the order of "floating keys" in keylist.txt by putting spells hotkeys first AND running DD as Administrator ( I use W.Vista). Now I can toggle spells to be the active one, whereas I still can drink potions using hotkey. :-)

Raze_Larian, thank you very much for referring to the music patch.
I was merely checking DD updates on GOG which did not exist. Now I might get rid of those occasionally happening sound "hisses".
I have to admit I did not miss any music as the ambient sound is so great -or is this female voice chorus in Aleroth the actual music?

Try setting the game to run on a single core. The easiest way to do so is to right click the div.exe file in the install folder, or the shortcut, select Properties, switch to the Compatibility tab and set it to run in Win 95/98/ME mode.

Sound issues?

Sound crackling

Occasional audio hitches in Divine Divinity

The issue wasn't that music was completely missing, just that (in areas above ground) it did not necessarily change when it was suppose to. For example, it should change shortly after leaving Aleroth, or when walking into the Blue Boar tavern and again from the tavern to the inn.

It seems that GOG now hosts the latest version. I tried installing the music patch for my game, but got an error, I think because I was using the installer I'd downloaded a long time ago which was an older version. So I re-downloaded from GOG and reinstalled, and it already reads v1.0062A and the music is behaving properly, without me having to patch anything. There are other cool new things too, like actual sunsets and sunrises instead of an abrupt jump from day to night. Also it was already set to use Windows 98 compatibility mode, so my occasional static bursts in the audio seem to be gone (although I noticed the music skips while I am saving games, which is odd).

Glad I figured that out! Does anyone know when GOG updated the installer? I only ask because I thought I checked if there was a new version before I started playing. Maybe I just didn't look carefully enough.
Don't know when GOG was updating this. In my bookshelf DD has not be marked with this blue dot indicating any (what) updates like I have for other games.
However, I already had 1.0061A (in game) and I was downloading it 2013.
Now I can only see current download package has version "setup_divine_divinity_2.0.0.21.exe" instead of *1.0.2.13 which I downloaded long time ago.
Here (update information for owned games) GOG could definitily improve.

I agree. I think that's supposed to be one of the advantages of GOG Galaxy. Although, since I prefer to keep backup installers for my GOG games and run then offline, GOG Galaxy does not seem to realize that Divine Divinity is installed. Odd.
