I must have fat fingered something. Minor beasts (at least I think that's all) like spiders, boars, etc are now friendly. Also, unknown areas are no longer blacked out in the main map (but still are on the actual map functions ("a" and "m"). Any idea what I've done and how to fix?

You ran into some kind of glitch with the alignment, possibly associated with using a statuette.

Do you have a recent working save you can reload? That would be the easiest way to recover, for that and the fog of war being cleared (though that should be relatively easy to fix even in your latest save, if that were the only problem).

I'll see about the save but I likely don't - I generally keep three but overwrite as I go and I continued playing last evening. I have to older games I started that are still unfinished - those saves sound like they should be fine. Any other options if there is no good save?

EDIT: Unfortunetely, the oldest save (for my latest character) was also corrupted.

Zip the data.000 file in your latest save (or the whole folder) and email it to me (raze@larian.com), or email/PM a Dropbox or Google drive link, etc. I can replace the alignment section of the file with one from one of my saves at a corresponding point (I've done so a couple times).
Where are you in the game, in terms of location, main plot quests done, etc?

Periodic named saves are a good idea. The save folders are quite compressible, so older ones can be zipped, and with a bunch of saves, 7-zip's .7z format with a solid archive can achieve much better compression.

Attachment is loading; boy, Yahoo! is slow!

Not all that far along: just level 13. west bank of the river has been cleared; most
farmlands" quests completed. Have not been off the initial main map yet. Have not yet met Janus. Finished Gen Alix related tasks.

Never too late to start :)

EDIT: I'm inside your orange character zone; I'll bold them (may help?).

Maybe... but it was probably a good thing you mentioned it, as well.

You can manually break up quotes, with extra [ quote_# ] and [ /quote ] added. If you miss an end quote, etc, the post browser willdow will sit there 'posting' after you hit the 'Post my message' button, and you'll have to copy the text, cancel, reply again, paste and fix the error (or re-edit, if that would be easier).
