Post random questions and stuff about Divine Divniity or Beyond Divinity that may not be worth its own thread, or is just chatty about your DD and BD gameplay.

I'll start.

Do mushrooms grow in random spots throughout the game?

I got the impression that when I started, mushrooms weren't as common, and were rarely in patches of two growths (or more). Now I see clumps you can drop two or three bottles onto before harvesting them all out, and sometimes they're really thick in the landscape.

Is it just wishful thinking, or is the game a little bit "alive" in this way? Like how tiberium patches in Command and Conquer could grow if you left them alone for a while ...
As far as I know, plants do not regrow. However, you will become so powerful that between life leech, mana leech, resistance charms, pickpocketing, buying potions and casting healing spells, as well as physical & magic damage shields, you will get by. Items are refreshed at merchants each day, and you will eventually accumulate more gold than you know what to do with, and items that are so valuable that merchants don't have the money to buy them off you, so you're forced to trade them for other items that you want anyway.

Good to know. I just got my gardening instinct up there. I wondered if a patch that yielded two or three bottles originally started out as a patch that would only give one bottle, then grew.

If that were true, then I would want to keep mining the big patches alone and leave the small ones so they could grow and sprout a second or third patch.

Right now I have a lot of potions but I am reluctant to use them in case I come up on a crazy hard boss. (And I've already read up on one of them at least.)

---------------------------- NEW POST 10/6/2010

POSSIBLE SPOILER ON VERDISTIS SEWER TREASURE ROOM BELOW

Just went to the Verdistis sewer and got into the treasure room. The guide at Gamebanshee warns that you probably won't get anything much worth having here, and that [SPOIL]

one off the trapped chests can turn you permanently into a frog. Well here's good news on both fronts. [/SPOIL]

I got new plate leggings with 60 vitality and 10 resistance to spirit on them, as well as 150 armor at 125 weight. They dropped off the lizard mage that is inside the room guarding it.

The other good news is (SPOILER AGAIN)

that with spirit resist of 30, I opened the trapped chest and did not get turned into a frog.

[END SPOILER]

So it's well worth sneaking into the Verdistis sewer treasure room.

(May contain minor spoilers)

In Divine Divinity, I'm at that part where you get kicked out of Stormfist Castle, get captured, and have to get your stuff from a chest. I had over a hundred items in there - is there a "Take All" command, or do I have to drag it all one item at a time?

No take all command.

Carry an empty chest close to the front gate, drop it onto the ground, then save. Empty all your stuff into it then save. Then push it as far as you can through the arch out the door until the officer or guards tell you that you can''t leave. Save again. Then leave, and walk up, from outside, as close as you need to in order to unload the chest.

I hoard chests, so I'd go back after for the chest too.

I think I may have packed up two chests from the castle that way ... I took almost everything that wasn't nailed down.
