Trying to install the Divine Divinity 1.0.2 universal update on to the 1.0.0 installer but I keep getting an incompatible error.

I'll download the new main installer later but hopefully this is an isolated incident or something GOG can fix later for other people.
One other person has reported that compatibility error. I didn't get an error with the patch, just a message that it needed 123MB of space (which it had) to install, and could only exit out by the X button in the corner of the window. Maybe installing the Larian Vault release after the GOG release confused it, or something (this computer has a few issues, as well).
I'm getting the error, too. I guess I'll download the main installer again, too.
The file indicates that it's a 1.0.0 to 1.0.2 updater. However, my GOG installer version is 1.0.1. That's apparently what's causing it to fail. I'm not sure why they didn't make a 1.0.1 to 1.0.2 updater, and I'm not sure why they didn't mark it as updated in the account section either.
Well, in any case, the full installer for the new version works.
I think I'm having a similar issue. I downloaded the game yesterday, which is indicated to be 1.0.2 on the download page, but the main screen says it's 1.0061A. When I try to download the 1.0.0->1.0.2 patch, it says the update has already been applied. Is that supposed to be happening? Shouldn't the main screen say 1.0.2 then?

1.0.0 and 1.0.2 are the GOG installer versions, not the game versions. The 1.0.2 updater changes the ingame version to 1.0061A, so you're good.

In response to my previous issue, apparently the patch DOES get applied even if it says the installed version is wrong, provided that error is given AFTER the progress bar has completed. Blue post here.

Oh, I see. Thanks for clearing that up.
