Simply just drag two items on each other in the inventory.
Sometimes you need to drag items into a forge, or a grindstone etc.

It's the same text added to your journal so that you can sell the actual book, so they don't clutter your inventory.

Also, if you're having difficulties (like most people), here's a work-in-progress crafting recipe guide.

the book usually says something like "Using my knife on animal hides tured them ito something useful"
So knife+hide.

But trial-error works as well. I found many recipes by trying to stack items. For example I treid to stack wool, and I ended up making something else instead :)

Or sometimes you must think: without any spoilers, there is a quest wehere you must kill something, and lure it out at the same time. So think with crafting: a lure + something that kills = perfect bait.

See the link in my other reply.

The library has one very special book, but otherwise it's just a store with a theme.

I don't think such mod exist yet, since the game is very new, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone made a mod like this in the future.

For now you can rely on online craft-guides, like the one Hickory linked.
thx for all the help :)

In at least the case of making some potions, you get a quantity dialog that pops up and tells you what your combination will make and allow you to adjust the slider to make multiples at one time. The nice thing is that it tells you what your combination will net you before you commit to the combination. As an example, try some type of mushroom and an empty potion bottle.
