The most recent patch notes mention cross-save with the Switch version using Steam, but I'm assuming that's just because the patch notes were copypasted?

Switch to GOG cross saves would get me to rebuy on the Switch. I don't actually expect it, but it'd be neat.
usually save files are not platform dependant.

But cloud service APIs for synchronizing are. If the Nintendo Switch version is specifically trying to access the Steam cloud saves, they're not gonna be there if you're not playing on Steam.
I would really like to have cross-saves between GOG and Steam... Anyone know if it's planned sometime is the future ?

Gharuwill: cross-saves between GOG and Steam...
Saves are already compatible on PC between Windows/OSX, GOG/Steam/App Store.
On the same system, Steam and GOG use the same folder for profiles/saves, and you can switch back and forth between them.

I don't know if Galaxy has any plans for syncing with Steam's cloud saves.
It is possible to download / upload / delete online saves for the Steam version with the program Steam Cloud File Manager Lite (download). You need to be logged in to the Steam client and have the game's AppID (435150), so this would primarily be useful to sync online if you don't have the Steam version of the game on that system.

You could use Dropbox, etc to share saves between different people (ie if someone in a multiplayer group wanted to do some crafting or shopping in advance of the group play session).

Hm... hold on, is this not gonna be an issue Steam side? As in, storing files in their cloud service using an external app for a game you don't own?

It seems to me that either Steam doesn't mind and then I agree with Gharuwill, it'd be cool if the game itself handled it, or Steam does care and then it seems a bit iffy to do it.

Either way thanks for the tip, I'll give that a shot, it just seems like a hacky way to get around the issue.

Thank you for this answer! I didn't know it was possible to manually inject files into the Steam cloud saves. This will actually make my life easier with several games!

You need to own the game on Steam (and be logged in to that Steam account) to be able to use the 3rd party program to upload or download saves.
I was responding to a question about cross-saves between GOG and Steam, which only makes sense if you have both versions of the game (unless I am misunderstanding the purpose of wanting cross saves).

Oh, gotcha. I misunderstood it being about cross saves between GOG and Switch, which... would be great. Cause I may rebuy the game on Switch, but I certainly won't rebuy it on Switch AND Steam.
I know that if you use homebrew on a switch it's possible to manually transfer save game files for Breath of the Wild. I've seen guides for it to be done to even allow for game save transfers between CEMU and a Switch that work.

I am wondering, could it be possible for Larian to allow us to manually import PC game saves without any kind of switch hacking? I can't imagine it'd be difficult to just pull a game save off of the root of the SD card, or have Nintendo have any problems with that.

Sorry, I completely missed my point, must have been tired. What I meant was, I would really like to have cross-saves between my switch and GOG.com. Obviously because I have the game on GOG and not on steam and have no plan to buy it on steam again. And also this prevents me to buy it on switch because I would buy it to continue my GOG save. Thanks for your reply anyways.

Now it's possible to get GOG saves from The Witcher to the Switch version. Did Larian and GOG started to work on a solution for D:OS2?

GOG has not provided us access to the API they are using.

But can you request it by yourself? I guess they can provide APIs they used for Witcher 3 crossplatfom saves. I would buy both GOG and Switch version if you will support it in near future.

I wonder if they would give access if there were enough people requesting for it.
