I'm trying to play the game on 2 windows 10 PCs. On one of them (a new Lenovo AIO with very heavy specs including GeForce 1080 graphics card) it runs perfectly. On the other one, it says that it cannot create the Players Profile directory in the Larian Games/Original Sin 2 folder in my Documents folder. I've deleted the game completely and reinstalled it, but even after the recent update it still won't let me creat a character. Any ideas how to get around this??

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game? Firewalls can also cause conflicts (generally on startup or loading screens, though).

Try starting the game directly from the '..\Divinity Original Sin 2\bin\EoCApp.exe' program file, by right clicking (the executable or shortcut) and running as administrator.

Try verifying local files, if you are using the Galaxy client (though reinstalling should have fixed any missing or corrupt files): select Divinity: Original Sin 2 in the left column, then click on the More button, and in the Manage menu select 'Verify / Repair'.

Try browsing to the '..\Documents\Larian Studios' folder on the Lenovo and copy the 'Divinity Original Sin 2' subfolder over to the other computer.
This folder contains the saved games, configuration files and a level cache folder. You can delete the saves from a copy of the folder before moving it, though file size probably isn't an issue.

Alternately, you could extract the replacement folder from the download below into your '..\Documents\Larian Studios' folder on the system that is giving the error. That will at least get you past the profile creation, and you could then see if you can create a new profile, or start a new game and save/load.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/kjvq79igruaeu4h/DOS2_doc_20165341.zip?dl=1

The graphicSettings.lsx file is set to 1280x720 Windowed mode, Very Low quality preset, which you can change in the options (manually, or hit autodetect).

Try creating a new Windows administrator user account, switch to that account and try starting the game.

Try doing a clean boot and then test the game (possibly from the new account). Click Start, or hit WinKey-R, type in msconfig and hit enter; in the General tab, click Selective Startup, uncheck Load startup items (if required) and leave Load system services and Use original boot configuration options checked. Next, Click on the Services tab, check the box to Hide all Microsoft services, then click the Disable All button (maybe make a note of which are currently enabled/disabled), then click OK and reboot the computer.
Run msconfig again to switch back to the normal boot configuration.
Thank you for your response and help. Haven't tried everything yet, but what didn't work:
- starting from the exe with administrator
- veryfing the installation
- continuing the game past the test profile. When I click on begin, I get the error messages 'can't create 'level cache' and 'can't create /temp'. Also, when those error popups end, the game says it couldn't start and gives me error code 100. Hope this makes things a little more clear...

mrswing: error code 100.
Error code 100 is a problem loading the initial level cache, and is often connected to error codes 119 and 120 (load errors copying files and initializing the level cache). Generally these error codes are related to My Documents problems, with 100 usually related to trying to start a new game, while 119 and 120 are more associated with loading existing saves.

In the first D:OS, one person with 119/120 errors found that the problem was due to their My Documents folder being located on a NAS device, and the NAS being temporarily unavailable. Another had a hard drive removed and Windows showed the correct new location for My Documents in Explorer, but the registry still listed the path on the non-existent drive.
Another person was a little too aggressive freeing up drive space and somehow disabled the ability to create folders in My Documents; a system restore fix that.
A few people with D:OS Classic got these errors after upgrading to Windows 10, due to changes in how Windows handled file permissions (running the game as administrator or adding the current user to the folder permissions would fix the problem in that case).

In the My Documents folder, right click the Larian Studios folder (or the Divinity Original Sin 2 subfolder) and select Properties, switch to the Security tab and click on Advanced. The Owner of the folder will be listed at the top, with an option to change; if necessary click 'change' and in the next window type your Windows user name and click Check Names, then click OK once it finds the user account. By default, SYSTEM, Administrator accounts and the current user should have 'Full Control' as permissions for any My Documents folders.

Dejda: Until now the game worked, a few days ago i cant press in game menu nothing (no options, no continue...).
So you can load a save but then hitting Esc doesn't bring up the in-game menu? What about left clicking on the menu button on the far left side of the skillbar at the bottom of the screen?

If you create a new profile, can you start a new game and access the menu?

Or are you not getting to the main menu? In that case:

If you have any generic or obscure USB controllers (or other devices) plugged in, try disconnecting them, especially if you were not using them when the game was working. Crashes on startup with faulting module names of ntdll.dll and EZFRD64.DLL, can (particularly for the latter) be related to USB controllers or PS2 to USB adapters (for various games). The game engine has controller support, even though the interface hasn't been updated for D:OS 2 yet.

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game? Firewalls can cause conflicts (generally on startup or loading screens) and overlays from graphics tweaking/monitoring programs or chat programs can also caused issues.

Try verifying local files: in the (optional) Galaxy client, select Divinity: Original Sin 2 in the left column, then click on the More button, and in the Manage menu select 'Verify / Repair'.

Try browsing to the '..\Documents\Larian Studios' folder and rename the 'Divinity Original Sin 2' subfolder.
This folder contains the saved games, configuration files and a level cache folder.
Next, exit out of the Galaxy client, if applicable (or make sure cloud saves are disabled), then start the game directly from the '..\Divinity Original Sin 2\bin\EoCApp.exe' program file, by right clicking and running as administrator.

If that gets the game to start, create a profile when prompted, then exit and move the saves over from the renamed folder to the newly created profile's savegames folder.
If that doesn't help, you can delete the new My Documents D:OS 2 folder and rename the original back again.
I press now repair in manage installation and now its working again. Thanks for help.
