hi,

If I download the current indev version will I be able to continue with the same savegame for the release on the 14th?
And are there big changes to the gameplay and story for the first act?

No. There have been too many balancing changes and additions since the last update (a couple more origin characters, the undead as a playable race, and related quest and dialogue changes, etc) to maintain save compatibility.
There were some changes to the story, particularly with the origin character quests.

After release all updates will maintain backwards compatibility with release saves.
