Last night my brothers and I played Divinity 2: DE just fine. Today it crashes on the launcher. Verifying/repair hasn't worked. Reinstalling hasn't worked. I am assuming the new patch is the issue.Just wondering if anyone here has foind a way around this issue.

Thanks.

CJF65: Today it crashes on the launcher.
There is an issue with the launcher for some people after today's update, which we are looking in to.
You should be able to start the game directly from the '..\Divinity Original Sin 2\DefEd\bin\EoCApp.exe' program file.

Deleting the contents of the launcher's cache folder should fix the crash when starting from Galaxy: 'C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\LarianLauncher' (copy and paste %LocalAppData%\LarianLauncher into Windows Explorer to quickly open that folder).

Thanks for the quick answer.
Your first point works for me (starting the EoCApp.exe directly), deleting the content of the cache folder didn't.
Keep on your good work !
Looks like the launcher is crashing after the update. Like Raze_Larian wrote, launching the game directly without the launcher still works.
For my installation it was launching:
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Divinity - Original Sin 2\DefEd\binEoCApp.exe

Confirmed running EoCApp.exe directly works; deleting the cache to start from within Galaxy 2.0 beta doesn't. Windows event viewer shows a System.Globalization.CultureNotFoundException; I can provide the stack trace if needed (but it sounds like you already know about it).
We should have fixed that now.

The problem was with some Windows versions that didn't like the launcher language file being called ja-JA.xml instead of ja-JP.xml
Latest Patch fixed it !

Thanks and have a nice weekend :)
Indeed fixed; very fast work, thanks!
This is not fixed for the standalone installers. The game launcher still crashes on start up.

Yes, I can manually run the game directly out of the folder, but that's not the point. The launcher is currently broken and needs to be fixed.

It should be for the latest version (3.6.51.1333jajp). Earlier installers would need to be patched.

It's not fixed for the latest standalone installer. I already patched up to 3.6.51.1333jajp before making the original post. I had previously been using game version 3.6.49.2201b, and applied the four patches necessary to update to the latest version, all of which claimed to install successfully:

patch_divinity_original_sin_2_3.6.49.2201b_(32732)_to_3.6.51.1333_(33562).exe
patch_divinity_original_sin_2_3.6.51.1333_(33562)_to_3.6.51.1333jp_(33787).exe
patch_divinity_original_sin_2_3.6.51.1333jp_(33787)_to_3.6.51.1333st_(33791).exe
patch_divinity_original_sin_2_3.6.51.1333st_(33791)_to_3.6.51.1333jajp_(33802).exe

After installing this sequence of patches, the game launcher broke as indicated.

The installation method shouldn't make any difference, then.

Try deleting the config.xml file in the '..\Divinity Original Sin 2\bin' folder, as well as the contents of the 'C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\LarianLauncher' folder (copy and paste %LocalAppData%\LarianLauncher into Windows Explorer to quickly open that folder).
After that, try starting the launcher from the '..\Divinity Original Sin 2\bin\SupportTool.exe' executable (there will be a delay of a few seconds before the launcher starts, if this helps, as the contents of the LarianLauncher folder are rebuilt).

If that doesn't help:

If you check the Event Viewer, does that give an error code or 'Faulting Module' file name for any event related to the error?
- click Start (or WinKey-R), then type "event viewer" into the search box. in Windows 10, 'event' should bring up 'View event logs'.
- after starting the Event Viewer, expand 'Windows Logs' in the left column and select 'Application'
- in the center column, look for a recent error for the game (maybe sort by Date and Time, or search for 'SupportTool')
- check the information under the 'General' tab below the list of events, starting with "Faulting application name..."

Please email supportdos2@larian.com with a dxdiag report (WinKey-R, type in dxdiag and hit enter, then when it finishes loading click on the 'Save All Information...' button and save the report somewhere handy). Also check the 'bin' folder for the launcher for the gold.log file, and if there are any 'CrashDump' files being created, zip a few together to include.

These steps did not work. The LarianLauncher folder does not get recreated. I suspect this is because SupportTool dies immediately and thus does not get a chance to do so.

When it fails, it lists the "Problem Event Name" as CLR20r3 with "Problem Signature04" set to mscorlib. This suggests there's some .NET runtime issue here. I'm using Windows 7 x64 in case that platform wasn't rigorously tested with this patch level.

Running the version of SupportTool in the DefEd folder still works fine and launches the game normally. The SupportTool that launches from the Windows Start menu, and which is presumably that found in <install path>\Divinity Original Sin 2\bin\ is the one that got broken with one of the subsequent patches. There are no CrashDump or gold.log files present in the folder of the faulting application.

I appreciate your taking the time to assist with this matter. I have not attempted to download the entire game anew and reinstalling, as that's a huge download I am hoping to avoid.

If the above is insufficient to pinpoint the issue I can attempt to contact Larian support as you suggested.

This is the same error I had on my Win 7 system with the original release of the update, fixed the next morning (on Steam and Galaxy).
Maybe there is a problem updating via the patches, at least in your case.

In the '..\Divinity - Original Sin 2\bin\Languages' folder, do you have a 'ja-JP.xml' file, or is it 'ja-JA.xml'? Windows 7 and 8 have a problem with the latter, and the latest update should have changed it to the former.

In the 'bin' folder, using the program Hash to create a list of checksum values for the launcher executable gives:
File: ..\Divinity - Original Sin 2\bin\SupportTool.exe
Size: 2974072 bytes
File Version: 1.1.0.0
Modified: November-09-19, 12:19:37 AM
MD5: CB863F9ED457955CFF740AB9C126BDEE
SHA1: C235A93FD3D535C8A3F8C6943137FA7E3804F25D
CRC32: C5E52062
I continue to have issues on launch despite following these steps. I'll go ahead and submit a ticket, but I want this thread to continue.
