Hi, does anyone know the location of the save games? I still have my original save files from 20 odd years ago with my original character and the legendary Deamonspike Coat. I would love to dust him odd and play through again,

just drop character files to the installation folder and game should pick them up, providing there were made on the latest official version.
Classic version saves character data in installation directory. Same as original sinle_#.sv or multi_#.sv - but this is not for HiRes version. These savefiles are hidding somewhere ... where? (In case to continue play on another computer).
HD savve location;
[instal folder]\Diablo\dx
So I've started playing a new game, new character and have saved the game a few times, but I don't find any save files in the installation directory or any other location. Does anyone know where new save files are stored?

Didn't read this until right after I posted my inquiry. Thanks Marleyman!

wanting to copy my save from my pc to my laptop but the saves arent showing inder the
C:\GOG Games\Diablo\dx directory. anyone help please?
Hi!

Here are the saved game files:

C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Diablo\dx\single_x.sv (x = number of saved games)
If I copy all files in the directory (X:\xxxx\xxx\Diablo\dx\(all files in here)) it works great.
I just don't know which on of the 18/19 files are only needed. I tried just the .sv file and that did not work, but coping them all did.

In my case, I still have some character saves from 1999, way before the last official patch 1.09b came out. Is there any way to get those working again? (the saves are most likely patch 1.07 or 1.08)

I tried it:
The gog Diablo version correctly picked up these old .drv files (DLINFO_0.DRV etc) from my windows directory, where I previously put them, and they correctly showed up as multi_0.sv etc. files in the new diablo installation folder after lauching the game.

Then however, none of these characters show up in the character selection screen.

Anything I can do here or am I out of luck here? Thanks.

Classic, High Resolution and Hellfire launches don't see each others saves.
Try running Classic mode.
