shantae.: Do you think they will try to fix balance issues, in the new edition? That would be the only reason for me to give a chance to this class. I'm not interested in using it in SP campaign, again.
Given that they couldn't find the effort to balance out, like
anything, or solve basic issues, no, I don't think so.
Because the problem is not just with Asassin. Take a look at the others:
- druid: any build demanded way too many points, and each build focused on
one damage type. This could kill the druid to start with (a SP druid literaly gets stuck in like Nightmare Act 5 because the hedgehogs freeze its minions to death, the result of no rsistances of any element gained for pets), but then the class also suffered from the DOT-damage-bug, which caused (because of engine-problems) like half the damage promised on the character sheet/character tree. All those Fissure-damage and the other fire spells - nothing.
- paladin: it was a solid class, but compare anything with spirithammer. Which was like a bug. The class' best relied always on some bug by the way if you look it after.
- sorcerer: Inferno was killed by the DOT-bug, Mana-shield by the manaburn-bug (enemies with any kind of manaburn did *256 damage!), lightning nova was useless, and lightning storm was last used in 1.07 as the synergie-system broke it so far it didn't do squat anymore.
- amazon: dodge-skill always got in the way breaking attack-animation, significatnly weakening Valkyrie too.The poison-javelins did like nothing (poison dmg/duration bug, dmg comparsion with lightning, low dmg either way, immunity groups not being in favour), and don't even start on the melee skills
- necromancer: golems were demanding all your skillpoints, this (and the overpower of skeletons) killing revives too. Skeleton Mages also had their fair share of problems. And the multiplayer couldn't actualy carry a skeleton horde. Poison skills were only available in one set, and Bone Spirit was a total crap. At least Bone Prison was entirely useless, but Bone Wall got so much better synergy and lower manacost that it made the melee necro possible.
- lastly barbarian. Throwin barba never had a chance (didn't do damage in MP, didn't have access reliably on equipment in SP). Synergies ment practicaly nothing, as only the top tier skill remaind to be used still. Trying to make Leap Attack a skill got drown in laughter, not to mention it constantly bugged to being disabled. On the monster-side let's mention the result of this skill the Immortal Leap Frogs.
So game-balance in Diablo 2? Sorry, that's not going to happen.
Not that a new edition would look like even available. I've read they lost the source-code for most files of the game, and "it would be too much effert to recreate thouse from nothing-level".
