Damn GoG has been really sluggy these days. I thought at least they know that everyone is on at least Win 7 so please fix things before releasing?

Basically I tried every option on this forum and still can't it through, the game just crashed after showing the logo. It has nothing to do with the movie because I tried to skip it.

Thanks in advance, would have to ask for refunds if it doesn't work.
Before asking for a refund, GOG Support will likely want you to try a bunch of steps, most of which won't work or be at all relevant (typical first level CSR garbage: "Is it plugged in? Have you tried rebooting it? Is it still plugged in now that you rebooted it?"). Nonetheless, it'd be good to open a support ticket and get started on that now, so that they can either fix your problem or get to the end of the script and admit defeat. Maybe you'll even be lucky and their script will actually address your problem.

Thanks already asked for refund as I tried a few more methods but none works. The only thing works is Bezelbub which I installed and played many months ago. I might try installing a Win98 VM.
I just started up both Diablo and Diablo Hellfire seperatly, works flawlessly.
The issue must be on your end.

Linking your system specs is a good way to go.
dxdiag is also a nice tool.
and windows own stability tool, that creates dumps and warnings each time a program crashes with more specifics would be good to help you out.
Also here the same effect.

I have to say I'm using Linux.

$ cat /proc/version
Linux version 5.1.4-1-MANJARO (builduser@development) (gcc version 8.3.0 (GCC)) #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed May 22 17:56:21 UTC 2019

$ uname -a
Linux *** 5.1.4-1-MANJARO #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed May 22 17:56:21 UTC 2019 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Installation was fine. At start of "Diablo HD" Blizzard-Logo is there and then black screen and nothing more.
With "Hellfire" the Intro-Movie is there (WTF?!?), after that the music is playing but no screen (black). I can youse (blindly) the keyboard in the menu).

Maybe you have to split my post because of Linux maybe it is the same problem.

DXDiag says:

$ wine dxdiag

Thanks, I was able to start Diablo for once, and crashed again after clicking on the menu.
My Dxdiag didn't show anything abnormal. I'm using Intel 4600 + GTX 850M and I set GTX as the video card for Diablo.

Also it seems that igdumdim32.dll is the problem, as indicated by WIndows error reporting message from event viewer. The report is not in English so I'm not going to worry you guys about it.

I'll see what I can do but AFAIK custom ddraw wrappers didn't work for me. I had similar problem with Panzer General 2 but somehow it got fixed without my intervention...

This is not a crash like the original poster reported. It is expected behavior under Wine, due to the very strange drawing scheme that Blizzard used in Diablo.

I doubt anyone reading this thread has the ability to perform such a split.

Aside from the black menu, which is normal for Wine, does the game work correctly for you?

Diablo HD seems to do nothing after the Blizzard Logo. I had to break kill the process and set back my desktop resolution.
In Hellfire (where I can here Music but no screen) I tested a wild bunch of ENTERs (I couldn't remember the exact key sequence after 20 years) and I came to Game!! Logically in SVGA. But Intro video is invisible.

Diablo Classic doesn't do anything, not even the Blizzard logo.

But the HD version was MY reason to buy Diablo on GOG... :(

Thanks and Greetz

You will need to use keyboard navigation to choose the right menu items to start a game. Once you are in town, the game will render normally.

Try using DevilutionX it's native to Linux and gives you the same up-scaling as the HD version.
