DamZe: Save your strength OP, these forums are infested with blind loyalists who cannot see or an simply unwilling to admit that this is nothing more than a re-re-re-release on GOG with zero new enhancements which weren't already freely avaliable for D1 on the internet, and frankly done better!

DiabloPatch comes to mind with difficulty settings in SP and some welcome QoL changes, made by one talented guy mind you.
Honestly this is all really just trying to get some traction on the post in the hopes for a response from GOG.

I think thi is appropriate thread to ask.

Is diagonal bug present in this version? The one, where if projectile flies NOT in one of 8 main directions from character - it will NOT hit enemies AT ALL?

Also what bugs cured in this version? I was told there was "Improvements".

No it is a pirate copy of Diablo. They don't have rights to distribute this game like that. Abandonware concept don't exist legally.

Diablo 1 was never available by itself on the Blizzard shop once it was removed from the Diablo 2 Battle Chest.

The moment that happened, it became abandonware, making it, yes, indeed Free.

The term Abandonware, refers to a developer abandonning software in it's entirety. I don't think it's possible to sue someone downloading your abandonware, and to win, unless the other lawyer literally throws the suit in your favor.

I would not have given you 10 dollars for this if I had known it's literally the exact same game I've already bought numerous copies of in the past.
Get Beelzebub, and this purchase still works as being worth-while, because it's a currently-accessible copy of Diablo 1 you can take the diabdat.mpq from for other mods. Some people do have CDs, or pirated copies, this still gives people access to it without a CD or a pirate copy.

nobody has the "rights" to distribute abandonware.

The thing that makes it abandonware are these simple facts.

1. It's not available for retail purchase from a legal retailer (until now).
2. it no longer receives any support from the developer (true)
3. the fact that alleged pirated copies are easily available via a google search (have been for years) and have not been taken down for copyright purposes (because the developer has abandoned it and doesn't care).

Yes it's free, so when are you idiots going to look past that and get to the fact that high res support is not provided although the description on the store page says it is.

To be fair, it wasn't written like this initially (I also came here for the high resolution support btw)

Sadly, anything that becomes abandonware doesn't automatically become free. The interpretation of laws on this subject may differ from country to country, but in general anything that was "abandoned" is still protected by copyright laws. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abandonware#Law

Most laws also label the distribution of abandoned software as illegal, even if the author no longer exists.

My personal view on this subject is that if there is no way to purchase the product in question and the author/rights holder has been contacted and replied that there are no plans for it going back on sale (this was the case for Diablo 1), it is okay to download the product from 3rd party sources. In my book, using the archive ISO files was OK until this GOG version came to be. Now that the game is sold again, it is illegal by laws to download the archive ISO files.

About High resolution...
it means that the game renders in your vanilla res if it is selected, the game runs at an scaled 4:3 aspect ratio. But people consider that high resolution means widescreen ingame.

In any case, if the game had been modified with a widescreen tiny character visuals, in the vein of a mediocre amateur mod, I had never had bought it, because I consider it heresy and a piece of garbage.

I'm with you but as it stands now I own physical copies...so kind of annoying.

DiabloPatch is a fine project (I previously played the game using that), but it is changing the game. "Enhancements" like changing inventory size, being able to run or other stuff would be changing the original game content, and that's not really something GOG does. They'd have to call it a "Remaster", "Extended Edition" or whatever. What GOG is about is offering games in their original form - or at least as close to that as possible.

You could argue we're supporting half-assed releases, but you *are* getting the opportunity to purchase the original game, hassle free, and mod at your leisure. Maybe achievement support later down the line (maybe? I don't own many GoG games, I love hunting 'cheevos).

Anyways, i'm about to purchase and just put beelzebub on it and be done with it. i really love what they've done with that mod to modernize the game. I played vanilla, but beelz really makes the game visually appealing and "HD looking".

Hope you can sort your refund situation.
