Are there any other forums for Diablo i can go to?
I think I asked before but the response I got leads me to believe the answer is no. :P

The Steam was is dead, the Blizzard one is toxic.

I just really want a place I can just hang out and talk about the game.

There are a few Discord communities, though that is for chat and not forums.

There's reddit, but you should only go there if you are at your wits' end. There's a good reason I call it jerk city.

GoG wasn't too bad not so long ago. I'm not sure how or why things changed so quickly. I recently saw a user get harassed in another subforum. When it comes to my own experience, one particular user said I will be "dealt with". If you find a place that's laid back and welcoming, let me know.
Jesus, doesn't anyone SP anymore?! XD

Blizzard just had a walkout.
IMHO, it's long overdue.

Anyway, I'll be curious to see if it was everyone because that could effect service, which I'm totally willing to suffer through in order to get that POS out of there.

I hate Kotick. And not because he's rich. I can stand rich people, some of them are even nice. It's the scumbags who think they own everyone else I can't stand.

GOG has been on the decline since it released Witcher 2 and opened the doors for newer games to be on here.

It's always been a matter of the people who tend to enjoy older games seem to respect history more, and have some respect for authority and people with seniority.

The problem is, when we'd get floods of people coming in and being jerks, and the old guard would call them on it, we'd get called elitist, crotchety, and grumpy old men who needed to go to bed.

A lot of the old guard left. You hardly see any users from before 2012 anymore. I myself have taken extended breaks frequently.

It helps to stay out of General as much as possible. It's much friendlier in the game forums, but I am sorry you had that experience. I've had some people try to take over my threads, and it seems to be the same people trying to take over everyone's threads and push their own agenda.

In regards to modern forums for Diablo 2, there isn't much. We started D2R threads on GOG for a reason ;)

Just wanted to post that I am almost exclusively playing D2R single player now. Tons of loot whoring online and scammers and tryhards.

Single Player is the place to be. Plus, I get access to ladder runewords when they launch without making me start a new toon. I'm still going to play multiplayer with a buddy or two, but nothing like before.

I figured out how to enable unlimited respecs in single player without cheating. Pretty nifty.
Thanks for your feedback, Cym! I'm in the middle of my first play of Dragon Age Origins. Revisiting D2 via Resurrected will probably be next. Trying to decide if I play multi or single. Leaning towards multi, as I might try playing with my 11yo. Sounds like a tough decision.

For multi, I could create a multi character, and just do closed sessions, with a password for just me or just me and him to play, right?

Yeah you can do that. If you're on each other's friends list, you can set up through options so you can join each other's private game with a couple clicks.

Online isn't all bad, it's just that I had several bad experiences with many less than savory types online, and there's really only one friend I've made since the remaster's launch that I still play with.

People justify crappy behavior by saying "It was worse back in the day lol" and downvoting each other to oblivion on reddit over posts that objectively help the community.

If you keep your online sessions private, you won't deal with any of that.

Thanks Cym. I too only want to play a "clean" game. And really, part of the appeal to pc games is getting away from real humans, so playing multi is counterproductive for me lol.

Exception: I'm really looking forward to playing multi with my 11yo. I try like heck to get him away from all electronics, but Diablo 2 will be the exception, of course.

If you need any help getting it set up let me know. I think I have dm's turned off so just send me a friend request and I can work it through chat for you. Excited for you to game with your kiddo!

Thanks man!

Whenever this happens, I'll post back my own experiences with D2R. Seems fitting for my own thread.

Mini necroing this thread to see if you ended up getting something going with D2R.

Wanted to let you know they patched the game quite a bit this year and are already on the second ladder season.

Just recently, they released terror zones, which while not adding content, adds higher level monsters to certain maps and rotates every hour. They want to see more people hit 99 faster, is the logic they gave.

Hope you're well. I'm still around but don't post much these days.
